I'm not necessarily a fan of daylight savings time... but that statement is pretty dumb.
It doesn't really take into account fixed hours vs variable daylight.
To use the poorly implemented metaphor above … ... you only can use 1/3 of the blanket at any time. That usable area tends to shift. At some points that usable area shifts to the bottom of the blanket, and by moving a foot off the top and sewing it to the bottom, you can use the entire 1/3.
