I've seen indications that the Diesel / Man O' War stuff is indeed still made by AJ's factory. Several times CI has outright and clearly said so, in newly-written blocks of text (e.g. for brand-new deals or products), not just "initially blended by AJ" but "made by AJ in his factory" and such.
So, not sure who or what to believe. CI's phone people are PA-based and super friendly (one time I got on a 20-minute tangent with a CI phone rep debating which PA pizza places are best, that was great). So I suppose one/some of us can just call and ask if AJ still is actually making these lines.
Regardless, I haven't gotten any bad ones, even recent ones, although I haven't bought any super-recently (last 6 months or so), if I remember right.
You're right about that. Inflation is a b!tch. So glad I bought a schitt-ton of cigars years ago back when prices were much lower, and still have like 95% of them. Woohoo! 🇨🇮
I'd encourage everyone to use the same technique now, to avoid doubled prices (and bans, and dumbed-down FDA-cleared weak blends, etc. etc.) years from now.
As for $2 good cigars, I said it before and I'll say it again, try the 601 Steel by Erik Espinosa. The "very well-known" cigar shop and their discount "scary" site frequently has them for about $2 each after using one of the standing 17%/20% discount codes. They're fine, upstanding Nicaraguans, medium-full, great draw, great flavors, quite enjoyable and well-behaved burn-wise, for cheap.
