It's a different circumstance so I can't really compare the two. Normally flu related and infection/sepsis/ards deaths happen, but I'm not part of the rapid response team so I don't get called bedside for all of them when they go bad. I am part of the response team during the covid crisis. So I am bedside for all of them that happen while I'm at work. So I have personally seen a tremendous increase. I've witnessed more deaths in the last two months than I would normally see in a year easy. But that's because I'm not normally called to the bedside for every single one, only deal with the ones that happen in my unit.

But just looking at numbers in general, we're still having regular deaths that share a pneumonia/ards/sepsis picture but swab negative. PLUS the covid positive iwth the same presentations. During a normal flu season the morgue in the basement doesn't get overloaded often, maybe one day every few years. I think it holds about 8 bodies, which would be a high normal death toll for a week even during a bad flu season. We were getting 3-5 a DAY for a couple weeks there. It's slowed to about the high normal again.

Indiana governor said we're opening back up. I'm not opposed to it, but I don't know that we're fully recovered in our facility with supplies and staff to deal with chit hitting the fan again if it does. I don't know that it will, because in general I've been seeing a majority of people being conscientious out in public. There's also a lot of total jackasses in public who are yelling at everyone they see with a mask and not giving space but they were there before all of this. I expect cases to pick up, occasional light surges, but not what we were getting in early April, should just be pretty steady for a while. I may just be hopeful, I may be horribly wrong.

I'm letting the scrap pile up out back. Normally I take it in when I have a pickup's worth but it's not worth my time to haul it off right now. I'm not even picking up roadside scrap when driving around anymore.

I might have been able to use it for parts. Could have driven down and picked it up and get a haircut too (if the truck made it there).
