The 3-4 on day two were almost worse. They started with a goal, tried hard to stretch the truth to meet it and filed a false report. Until video, their own the **** idiots, proved them wrong. Crickets. Arrogant sobs.

That house needs clean and they will not do it themselves. Why should they? They are on the side of right and nothing is wrong. It works for them.

And yes there are good cops and good departments. But there are dirty DIRTY ones too. Sometimes even they don’t recognize it. It’s just the way it should be.

pretty sure he was writing about what happens to the average person who becomes a law enforcer...it's tough to maintain a sense of compassion, empathy, honesty and integrity when society entrusts you with its ultimate power: life and death...

we are evolving from a history of lawlessness and corrupt, uneducated, untrained and unprofessional police departments...upgrading will take more time as vestiges of that history remain...nepotism runs rampant in police hiring, so some of today's cops are descended from those corrupt ones in the past...most of the best and brightest among us do not aspire to be police officers...I have seen from my own experience that many individuals who wore the badge were not ideal...(many more were, though...the majority of cops in CA are good people)

not all states and local police departments have embraced professional POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) standards...many resist civilian oversight, which has proven useful in improving community - police relations...

racism exists in our society and affects police community relations...some believe that hiring a few minority cops fixes the problem because the dept. reflects the composition of the people it serves...that is wrong....it requires constant effort, best done with objective outside oversight...

given that, I think that America is further along in eradicating police corruption and systemic racism than most other places in the world...these are birthing pains...

Without video and national outrage these poor cops wouldn’t be having their lives ruined. They would still be on the street helping or beating people like before.

I suspect the upping of charges possibly will result in acquittal. Then we will see what a real riot looks like.

Frank, you should read his first book, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave

I had to read it as a freshman in college. I ended up buying the book after college and reading it for a second time but it's been years...

It's short, roughly 100 pages, but gives an amazing account of plantation life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (Talbot County). The book chronicles his struggles, his fights with overseers, his attempts to escape, and just the overall horrible conditions that they all faced everyday. He also talks a lot about how despite all odds he became an educated man, which allowed him to write down a first hand account of life as a slave. His grit and determination were hard to match. He was the real definition of the phrase "pull yourself up by your boot straps." We're all a little soft these days...especially the children.

I've had the opportunity to visit Talbot County during my travels around the Chesapeake Bay...
