Are you sure it was 500mg? That is beyond a heavy dose. 30mg to 50mg gets me going real good, but I have used activated concentrates like RSO rather than true edibles and it sends me flying for 4-8 hours.

a true 500mg edible would probably affect me... not something I'd recommend for weekend users...
