Tens of thousands of voters in the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania will receive reissued mail-in ballots after being sent the wrong ones, officials said.

About 28,879 voters in Allegheny County, home to Pittsburgh, were impacted due to an error made by Midwest Direct, the company tasked with printing, collating and mailing the ballots.

A mapping error is said to have resulted in voters’ information being matched to the ballot for the next person in the batch, county officials said.

The county has introduced a tool to help voters check whether they were impacted by the defective batch.

Corrected mailings will be sent starting Thursday, with expectations that they will be delivered to voters next week.

The error comes amid mounting squabbles over the mail-in voting process.

Seven states allow voters to resubmit mail-in ballots after they have already sent them in to be counted, according to 37 out of 50 state election officials who responded to inquires from Fox News.

The laws allow residents in seven states who have already voted for select candidates by mail to change their minds, usually within a specific time frame after the first ballot has been cast. In some states, voters can resubmit ballots several times.

Another employee for the U.S. Postal Service is facing federal charges in the latest instance where mail-in ballots were discovered dumped in the trash in Kentucky.

Similar cases have been seen in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania over the past few weeks, as a record number of Americans are casting their ballots by mail this year amid the coronavirus pandemic. Ballot drop boxes have also been set ablaze in separate incidents in Boston and outside Los Angeles recently.

Troubling news from Hancock County Ohio. A friend of our pastor told him that his wife went in to vote this morning and they told her she had already voted (which of course she had not). She had to fill out a provisional ballot. They also told her that she was the third person that had that situation this morning.
