I remember full service gas stations when some young guy pumped your gas and cleaned your windshield, but the minimum wage destroyed those jobs.

I think the development of self serve gas stations had a larger impact on not just the loss of courtesy windshield cleaning but the need to even hire pump jockeys in the first place.

98.2% of the time I fill 'er up wif regular at stations that employ someone to do the job for me.

The last time a gas station offered full service that I experienced here in NYS was on a native reservation. They are more civilized there, they actually believe that a capitalist economy includes offering consumers choices.

Ya I know in some progressive backwaters the proles are not allowed to pump their own gas even if they want to, under threat of state violence. Not exactly the free market approach I had in mind when I said full service.
The last time a gas station offered full service that I experienced here in NYS was on a native reservation. They are more civilized there, they actually believe that a capitalist economy includes offering consumers choices.
