the money claim goes back to April and the speaker (Sen. Dr. Jensen) continues to say it isn't as simplistic as typically presented like in the post above...big surprise. The elements of truth have been distorted.

Aside from that, I'm sure everyone is well aware (yeah, sure) that intentionally misrepresenting diagnoses and causes of death is not just criminal but also would likely result in the offending hospitals' exclusion from the Medicare program...sort of self defeating prospects as opposed to the false monetary incentive being bandied about.

Also, hospitals seem to be under more financial stress since this began, at least near me. Layoffs have happened, tons of revenue lost due to inability to provide elective surgeries (the real money makers), treating so many under and uninsured cases...this has been far from a windfall.

I happen to know exactly how hospitals get paid and how they are required to code (may actually be responsible for training and monitoring reporting for hospitals across the nation on a weekly basis during this whole thing) and the impact or lack of on payment. Most of the crap on over coding to get paid more is absolute BS. Folks may want the numbers overstated for their political purposes but that line of rhetoric is false. And finding a case or two doesn’t prove differently.

The deaths from covid are under reported. The actual number is greater. How much I’m not sure but I am 100% positive we have not caught all the deaths in the data and there is minimal if any over reporting (onesies twosies for various reasons5hat get corrected when found).

There are some supplemental revenue streams that could be discussed if anyone wants to get specific but it just doesn’t occur there either. I suspect no one will want to discuss them because there isn’t much to discuss unless you hear something somewhere and have never really looked in to it.

The over reporting dog don’t hunt. I won’t argue about it because it’s not an opinion. It’s just a fact.
