As someone who has spent a lot of time actually reading and discussing (painfully in order to get through some classes....with people I absolutely disagreed with... and again now when older with a more experienced world view to see what has changed in me) Orwell, Sinclair and more importantly Paine, Locke, Voltaire, Rousseau etc. etc. etc. not to mention the founding fathers and their documents, it's pretty easy to tell when someone really doesn't understand them and takes a snippet to try to make a cutsie point.
They miss the forest for the tree and can't really discuss concepts without relying on a fairly limited number of off kilter websites to support their thoughts since their thoughts really are not original, their own, or even valid at times. It's really not worth arguing and rarely worth even acknowledging. It's best to stay silent and watch the fool try to convince others they are smart when they know they really don't understand much in depth and are just regurgitating tripe from other sources.
