most certainly there are effects.
Far less than what Presidents take credit for, and far less than what they get blamed for, yet their policies are not mutually exclusive from what the controllers of the markets do.
Pretty sure you are one who does know not to confuse the economy with the stock market.

But no cycle goes forever.

Quite so, I don't confuse the economy with the stock market as it is in modern times, which is a gambling casino, i understand the Austrian Business Cycle Theory, excessive bank credit stimulated by artificially low interest rates and money printing always leads to bubbles and busts.

Trump seemed to understand that in the 2016 campaigning years, which is why he criticized the Bush/Obama years and the FED policies, but the swamp surely convinced him as POTUS that the quickest way to popularity in the peoples eyes was the progressive way, inflate one big bubble and call that a thriving economy and hope it doesn't blow up before leaving office.

Unfortunately Rona was the unforeseen pin with the idiotic lockdown mentality that busted the bubble. Predictably, the usual political response was to quickly as possible inflate the bubble again, pressure the FED to keep interest rates at or near zero and print money out of digital thin air for stimulus spending to mollify the proles somewhat and re-inflate the stock market bubble.

Biden is a bigger idiot than Trump having the advantage of 47 years of progressive mental decay in the swamp. Biden's Keynesian economic policies will be just Trump's Keynesian economic policies on steroids. Now it's Biden's bubble to burst and all the evils that will fall on the people will be on him.

one day you say he drained the swamp, the next you use it as an excuse for Trump failing to change the norm.
He blasted everyone in his way about interest rates, so like most things Trump, his claims of being the only one who could fix things was a massive bluff told with enough testosterone that devout cons found it comforting. Did they all forget his real business record?

Where have I ever said "he drained the swamp"? I have only said the swamp assimilated him.

I really don't care about his record in private business affairs one way or another, I don't understand why some of you critics consider that a point so important to make. One of the biggest lies there isβ€”"you can run government like a business". The only business model that government resembles is organized crime.
See the Biden's for instance, they've modeled their own business activities after the examples of government.

the Austrian Business cycle was discredited nearly a century ago, with the world adopting the Keynesian Economic model...most modern economies have that as a foundation...

I do agree with part of your last paragraph, though: it describes the fallacy of those believing Trump was competent to be POTUS and voted for him..."you can run government like a business"... Trump proved that is false...but he did try to run government like organized crime...an utter failure...

True government aspires to appoint the best qualified person, the merit system. It works well in most places, especially at the higher levels of government, where hiring practices are regulated. Biden's nominees appear, so far, to follow the merit approach...

much more so than Trump's...remember Rick Perry famously saying, "WTH, I manage the nuclear arsenal?"

You must have read that in the New York Times...prolly Paul Krugman.🀣
To say the Austrian Business cycle theory has been discredited is like saying the Law of Gravity has been discredited.
It was the Austrian economists and the followers of the Austrian school who predicted the Bush/Obama economic crash while the Keynesian's were saying, don't worry, everything is working just fine.

"True government aspires to appoint the best qualified person, the merit system."?? "Biden's nominees appear, so far, to follow the merit approach..."

Wow!:^o What kind of Kook-Aid you drinking? It isn't apparent to you that Bidey appoints persons by the wokeness factor and political cronyism?

here's a piece by the non-partisan American Institute for Economic Research, with the major critique being that the ABCT is incomplete, neglecting government's, or other outside forces,' role in responding to booms and busts...too focused on the market itself...
