to do what you are still whining about, cigar manufacturers could print the weight of the box of cigars...even just the net weight of the contents.
But you'd still not know the weight of each individual cigar, nor do you now know the weight of each individual tomato in the can, yet you feel you are not being deceived for some weird reason.

How many beans are in every can of Goya black beans? Is it always the same number?
Why not? Manufacturer's deception, eh?

My turn, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop?

I hid BuckyB93's posts (as well as most of the others here) from my view due to Azz-hattery.
Any non-Azz-hats have anything intelligent to add to this discussion?

If both cigars started with the same weight of tobacco and percentages of wrapper, binder, and filler, are they not identical exept for format? I mean, you are only using circular logic.

cigar manufacturers and marketers talk about everything -- length and ring gauge and wrapper origin and binder credentials and filler mysticism and blender biographies

The things that truly matter? Guess I'm a n00b and an azzhat but these are the things I want to know. If I don't like the blend and/or have had a bad experience with the blender's offerings, I'm not buying regardless of size, shape or weight...size doesn't matter! [hitting]

Wait!?! What if we unboxpressed a boxpressed cigar to it's original shape? Would that make it the same but different? Asking for a friend.

"Taste is King..."

So is appearance, construction, reliability and consistency. As well as bang for the buck, e.g., the weight of the cigar, i.e., how much tobacco you're getting for your dollar.
This isn't a difficult concept. Weight isn't the only thing to consider, but it's something.
A lightweight stick might burn in an hour, whereas something more substantial of the same length and ring gauge might last twice as long.
Anyway, here are some closely guarded secrets. Don't tell anyone, as this is azzhat heresy:

Man O' War Virtue Robusto, 5 x 50: 11 grams
Oliva Saison Natural Robusto, 5 x 50: 13 grams
La Gloria Cubana Wavell (Robusto), 5 x 50: 14 grams
La Gloria Cubana Serie R No. 4 Robusto, 4.9 x 52: 17 grams

NO, it isn't a difficult concept. It's a fuggin stupid one.

Does the cigar taste good to you and burn long enough for you to enjoy it? That's all that matters.

If you are concerned about one brand having an extra gram of tobacco versus another, you have found the wrong hobby. These are natural products and weight will vary.

"What if we unboxpressed a boxpressed cigar"

The original circumference (or perimeter) would remain the same regardless. A 50-gauge diameter subsequently box pressed into a rectangle would not become a 60-gauge diameter if you somehow managed to un-box press it. But you know that. Azzhat.

You smoke ***** cigars...

You guys remember that zombiephile named willyv who lived in a vacant field in a tent next to his wife's house and he tried to rate cigars with a unit of measurement called volumetric smoke units? I found his inbred cousin...

What % humidity of each?

What was the sample size and are these differences statically significant?

Volumetric smoke units... I forget about that one.
