Just got home with wife and son from a simple night at the beach (less than 24 hours). Seafood dinner out last night. Breakfast place this morning and the Greek place on the way home for lunch.

Three hours on the beach in the sun without shade is too much. Gonna have to figure out some shade before our next weekend there. Got some old tents and umbrellas from when my son played soccer, but I have no idea what we'll find.

Oh, and the ocean was several different colors in the blue/aqua range. Water was nice.

Condo is on the 5th story and has a direct view through the four 9' sliding glass doors and balcony in the main room. Balcony wraps around three sides of the condo. I heard the waves crashing last night through an open window. The ocean breeze smelled great.

Maybe back for a day or so this week and definitely again the weekend after next. Gonna also spend five nights to celebrate our anniversary in three weeks. We have the place through October 31!

Walked in 75 degree rain this morning. Better walking weather than 8 months out of the year.

Spread mulch in 90 degrees. Think I've dropped 20lbs in water weight

Should have picked up some aliens with the mulch, to spread it.

Home from work.

Learning a few things about day shift. Number one is my body n brain like dayshift. I still hate families on dayshift, cant do bedside primary.

I dont drink much on day shift, cause it's a normal time to go to bed. I haven't even finished a whole beer the past few days. Don't need anything to help me go to sleep.

I sleep 10x better. Fitbit thing gives a sleep score I'm usually 50s-60s on nights. Even when I'm off I'm only sleeping 3-5 hours and it's not great sleep. This week I've consistently gotten high 80s to low 90s and 6.5-8 hours every night.

I feel like I'm at work a lot longer than I am. Go in as the sun comes up go home when the sun goes down. Feels like the whole day. Nights I feel like I have a lot of time off after work. I see the kid after work and before I leave. On days I'm gone before he's up and home after bedtime.

Several coworkers, not even ones in my own unit are upset about me not being there at night. An equal number have said they're happy I'm doing days. Good to know I'm appreciated.

I really want to get this built into a full time position. Did get approved to extend the "pilot" another month. Makes it 4 months of a trial job. Still collecting data, need to make a case for it saving money somehow. If it's just to make things run smoothly they're not gonna go for it. It needs to improve press gainey scores and save money. Trying to work that angle somehow.

I didn't mind working nights as far as the work... but my body absolutely hated nights.

Fark... just realized, as I'm winding down... I spent way too much time on a stupid Humanities class assignment tonight. I seriously need to take this Humanities course less seriously. Been reading and watching this stuff so I can do my replies before midnight Sunday

Seems like the instructor is rather disjointed to me. Maybe I should ask her out for a date. Maybe she's disjointed like a gymnast which would be fun.

Back to work

Mornin. Tired this morning. Wife and I started a small business. She used to be a professional pasty chef and I used to be a chef. She does VERY good baked goods and I make a coupla different types of Pimento Cheese. The business took off immediately and it's kicking our butts in a good way but it's hard work. Think I'll take break from it today and chillax. Maybe watch some Olympics and make a good dinner

Off to Pierogi Fest this afternoon to check out my uncle's band. Classic rock covers mostly, though not sure which era they focus on

Never been. Lived here all my life. Never ate a perogi either.

Tried to go once probably 20 years ago with a friend. It was stupid crowded so I said screw it and we went to the lake to smoke pot and throw rocks.

I haven't either, though have had plenty of pierogis in my day. I'm not looking forward to the crowd and usually avoid all of these fests like the plague for that reason. I wouldn't even do popcorn fest here when we could still walk to it from the old house. However, have now learned that a 2nd uncle will be filling in for the usual drummer, so it's dam near a family gathering now.
