As alluded to previously, and for the record, the mascot was abandoned at the end of the'18 season, and I don't think anyone's arguing it was a racist caricature

Abandoned? Not reallly, they were forced to drop it in exchange for hosting an All Star Game. And this year MLB showed their hypocritical brilliance in moving the All Star Game from Atlanta to Denver.

People forget that the team name wasn't named to denigrate Native Americans.

Start at the truth and build your opinions from there.

Otherwise you're just a whiny snowflake trying to out-woke the next SJW.

While we are at it, we do need to change the name and mascot from the Patriots to the more appropriate moniker of Terrorists.

To the governing authority at the time, that is what they were. IF we are going to fallback simply on Tradition.

How was I making fun of white people? I was asking how he would feel if we were to create such team names, or would it be ok... that's far different than throwing injun jokes around. If you can't see the difference, then I don't know what to tell you.

Anyway, to reiterate my point... people mad the name changed, like clearly upset. Team names change all the time, you get mad about them too? It was a business decision, had nothing to do with you.

Yeah... I gave you sh*t about throwing the I word around... but I think you and I have given each other sh*t on many other topics than this. What makes this topic so special? I think you're far more sensitive on race than I. I'll happily argue with you about other topics.

Bgz,
I would imagine in sucks being followed around a store because of your skin color. A friend of mine has that happen to him regularly. What he knows is people who look like him steal more often than people with lighter hues.

Probably based on statistics. Pobably based on an algorithm.

If you are calling a true racist a racist, nothing you say is going to change your mind. Best you could hope for is the get deplatformed, lose their job, and get that person more angry, more racist.

If there is a low bar criteria established at which point a racist label can be put on someone- anything from a Trump hat, or an American flag flying in the back of a pick up, at best you’ll simply confuse them. At worst, they get radicalized.

Kind of like 1970s Parenting. Dad slaps the kid upside his head, kid cries, dad then gets angry…OH, ILL GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO CRY ABOUT! Then the real beating, the real abuse happens.

The left and pc movements are radicalizing more non racist conservatives than they are converting.

They will reap what they have sowed.

Bgz,
Thanks for the response.

For me personally (it doesn’t look like it, but I have a amount of Indian blood in me) it doesn’t matter truly what these sports teams do. It’s the clamoring from people who bellow Racism wherever the can. Sports is just one of the battlegrounds popular now.

Can help maybe explain the “trigger” (man, we are turning into a country of over sensitive puss ies) we feel is simply the leftist, non shot **** disturbing over more minuscule **** all of the time. See the s hit storm 500 from a few weeks ago. People keep on dividing.

Tradition would be my quick answer, but that is lazy. Connection. That would be the better word.

As a little kid, I remember highlight reels of the KC Chiefs. A wide receiver named Otis Taylor was fast and cool. A defender had a cool, tough name (Buck Buchanan). And in the middle of it was a guy named Willie Lanier.
Cherry red helmets. Arrowhead Stadium was being or was recently built. The whole thing was cool.

Family led me to become a Packer fan. I reconnected with the Chiefs in 1987. Not sure why.

I rarely follow anything NFL until the championship games. When I come upon the Chiefs playing, I’ll watch until the second set of commercials breaks the game and my interest up.

If they changed their name, I’d pay less attention until I had none. Not because the Let’s Separate Us Until There Is No Us has “won”. It is for the loss of another reminder of joy I once had as a child. Was once a Chiefs fan. Never was a - KC Protector, Iclusion, Breeze or whatever of flimsy, non controversial team name they would come up with sounding like a feminine hygiene product.

Funny thing. A partially Indian kid, loving three black players, wearing KC Chiefs uniforms takes chit for being Racist.
Not you. Those are the people that are an irritant.

8trackdisco wrote:

You've interacted with me... you know I'm all for changing the Chiefs name... we can give them an Indian name... D*cked by Donkeys...

Ya... great name... but that has nothing to do with being offended by their name >:)

Triggerred is just my word for saying someone turned soft on something. Like the guy with a horse for his picture is clearly mad the Cleveland sports team changed their name. Soft.

That's triggerred.

When I generalize and lump people under a group... it doesn't necessarily mean you (arbitrary observer reading this sh*t).

Seriously... I know it's a sensitive topic for you though.

Show me on the doll where those lefty woke b*tches touched you.

Yeah... I play the coins... and Im f*ckin good at it. Yeah... that sh*ts powered by algorithms... news flash, everything that runs on code is.

Most the mother f*ckers on here don't even know wtf an algorithm is. Like Mark last night trying to explain what an algorithm was to me.... lmfao. I specialized in algorithms in college... it's quite literally what I do.

And you're one of those annoying f*ckers that follows me around the store... the dude with the flyest sh*t on in the whole f*ckin store cause I'm brown... you guys need to get new criteria... like that meth head with the dentures... follow that mother f*cker... and seriously... you're trying to give me career advice? You work at f*ckinf walmart... I try my best not even to step foot in that b*tch.

Oh.. and your math skills are sh*t :)

If you're that petty and want to do a pissing match related to employment history, I'd be happy to stack up mine against yours.

My indeed or LinkedIn profile hasn’t been updated for a couple years since I’m not actively seeking new employment but you get the gist. It prolly needs to be refined. Maybe I should provide a DNA sample or one of them genealogy thingies that you can buy online.

We're kinda getting off track from the original post.

Employment is fair game if you want to be petty about it.

I work at Walmart walking in circles 30-ish hours a week, part time gig to harvest their benefits. I'll let them pay for my tuition for another BS degree. 401(k) matching up to 7%. Employee stock purchase plan where they kick in 15% for every dollar I tell them to take out of my pay to buy Walmart stock.

Not sure many other businesses can match up with those type of benis.. Pretty good gig for a poor college student like me.

Now back to the Indians. I haven't followed Baseball in a few years. I like Terry Francona. He was a Red Sox manager and led them to a championship after a brrizzion years. He's now the manager of the Indians and has led the team to contention in recent years.

I listened to the book Francona: The Red Sox Years during my commutes way back when. It's a good read (listen). Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game is also a good read (listen) for Red Sox fans.
