Your vote is rendered irrelevant because the system is rigged by a winner take all strategy for electoral votes by the R and D teams. That's by design to make it nearly impossible for an upstart 3 party to gain any real traction, to convince the average voter their only REAL options are R or D. and if you choose not to support either the Hitler or Stalin party, you are "throwing away your vote" as the slogan goes.
Agreed, Johnson blew that faster than a $2 whore in 2016, but he never really had a chance anyway because the system is rigged and the majority of the people have been convinced to go along with that... you only have 2 "real" choices game, and if you don't fall in line with that and otherwise choose "none of the above" or a 3rd party, you're a bad person and have wasted your vote. I gladly waste my vote if the only other REAL options are 2 distasteful flavors of progtards.

Read it again, I did not agree there were only 2 real options. Geesh!
I "wasted my vote" so I don't have to live with the eternal shame of voting for Biden for sure.
For Trump, it was marginally less shameful but was too shameful still for me.
It was not to prove a point to anyone, but a man has to ultimately live with himself after all.

The idea that you are "wasting your vote" is the duopoly talking, don't confuse that for me speaking.
It doesn't follow that not voting or voting for a 3rd party is being pointless or wasting anything. Either one is a valid 3rd option if the other options are inherently immoral and corrupt.

You make no sense. I made a choice, I voted by throwing a bone to the Libertarian ticket. I could have made a choice by not voting or voting for another 3rd Party like the Constitution Party. They are all choices.

I could have voted for the Communist Party USA, but they didn't have their own candidate, they went full boat in support for Biden/Harris because they best represented the CPUSA's "The Road to Socialism USA program". πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚

An aweful lot has changed since the founding, and a lot not good. From the very beginning there were creeps working to rig the system for their own benefit and it continues. The old republic doesn't exist anymore because of this.

Each side focuses on the faults of the other and is blind to their own. If you think democrats, liberals and left wing woke nuts are paragons of virtue, you can't overcome your bias.

Ray... I don't know where you usually post (guess this is your new spot by your post count), but I'm guessing you haven't run into a lot of resistance elsewhere...

You post and write as if you're winning... and I find that amusing.

To quote TDub in response to DMV...

WooOoOoOoooOOOOOO!

Oh... guess it's time to go enrich myself so I can afford that 91 octane.

The social and political system has been real good to my family. I retired comfortably at 55. We have some money put away and are able to live within our upper-middle class means. And, I am enjoying the hell out of it!

Some folks make no sense. At this point in time a 3rd party vote steals from the R or D candidate. If you are conservative you vote for the more conservative third party and the opposite if you are progressive. O sense voting third party unless they have a chance to win. It is purely a protest vote and nobody gives a crap. It pains me to say so but we will eventually have to move our residences to create progressive and conservative stronghold states and then resort back to state rule with far more limited federal power. Perhaps the left and right will get philosophically divided enough to make space for a moderate third party

No, I'm not going to vote for the lesser of 2 evils if that's the only choice offered. Been there, done that, the result is always bad. That's what the R and D parties want you to do, take your place in opposing pens as good sheeple do, and pretend your vote is relevant to the final outcome and the direction government will take. A "moderate third party"...no thanks, that would be just another party that takes bits and pieces of what is stupid and evil from the others.

Will there eventually be a move to create separate progressive and conservative stronghold states?
"progressive" is a euphemism for socialist movements, I wouldn't be want to be part of that. NFW!
"conservative"...what exactly does that mean in modern times? It has no definition as it depends on what someone is trying to conserve.

Will that mean state autonomy with far more limited federal power?
It's far more likely that some or all of were these territories part of what used to be called "these United States of America" will go back to their secessionist roots and declare independence from central government power altogether. I see no evidence that the majority of Americans currently want to go back to far more limited federal power structures as was devised by the creators of the Constitution or even understand it. The federal power which has become less and less faithful to a republican system of government based on federalism and more and more authoritarian and nationalistic is not going to surrender its usurped powers willingly.
