I'm surprised no one has mentioned what Ian did in Cuba. Pinar del Río was flattened. That's the heart of all the Cuban tobacco farms. Their homes, barns, curing sheds and farming equipment are gone. No electricity and their water sources are screwed. It will take a long time to recover. The only place on the island with power are the tourist areas. Those poor farmers are screwed.

Yeah, with the cost of Cuban cigars... ME... A Cuban cigar freakin' snob, had already stopped buying them. Until they come back down to Earth with the prices (not likely now) I've been finding stuff I like from elsewhere to fill the void, and revisiting stuff I used to like.

Pre-embargo, Cuba was pretty much the top tier place producing cigars, and had the vast majority of experienced farmers, blenders, rollers, etc. no?

With the massive growth in the NC farming and production over the last 30-40 years or so, are Cuban cigars still considered "superior" to NC or just "different?"
