In a cigar box in the humidor or out? My humidor is currently 70 percent humidity and out in the room around 40 percent. In either case how long would you guess? I'm going to try moving them to 65 percent but will also try your trick with some.

Unless you are using a real expensive hygrometer, your “70” percent RH, could very easily in fact be 71, 72, or worse.
You have the right idea……….lower your RH.
In the mean time, do the cigar dry box trick, outside the humidor, for 24-48 hours.

a cheaper alternative to the Perfect Draw tool to open up a tight cigar is a long toothpick...I also made a "poker" tool with a straight section of a wire coat hanger, about 12 inches long...I bent one end to create a handle/finger hole (used about 5 inches) and sharpened the other end so the finished tool is about 7 inches long...works great and saved $30+...

I’ve used round toothpicks and drill bits with limited success but ultimately bought a PerfecDraw tool 4 years ago. Been very happy with it and while I may use it only two, maybe 3 times a year, its ease of use as well as efficiency is well worth it. Probably should have bought it sooner. Of course everyone’s mmv.

I've done toothpicks and similar shaped pokers. It seems to work at first, but then the home closes up again in my experience

For real I have been having alot of draw issues with this crazy weather. Just letting all my **** dry out now. Smoking a Lfd la nox tonight a week ago I just threw one in the burn pit. That really sucks some major donkey nuts when you do that. Then the girlfriend ask why did you throw that high dollar smoke away. That don't make it better.

^you can only fight a cigar so long.

Unrelated here but I do like the perfect draw due to the barb. You can actually pull the plug out of the cigar. (Sometimes). Had a few I couldn’t fix but mostly if there’s a prayer for the plugged smoke the perfect date is the best option I’ve tried.

I’ve even tried a drill with a drill bit. Some aren’t meant to be

A good 24 hours in the dry box with no humidity papa. I dry box longer at times but moving to 65 helped with that substantially

Worked like a charm! I ended up dry boxing for a couple days then placing in low 60s environment and they smoke great now. Thanks Jake and everyone else.
