Here in the burbs of Chicago, yes, problems with torch lighters are abound. Matches are my solution.

I am an outside smoker. My rule is not to smoke if it is below 50 degrees. I just don't enjoy the smoke as much if it is colder. I like to be still and contemplative. The cold isn't conducive to that. So, yes, I smoke less in the winter. And I stock up for spring!

Its 9:28 pm in San Jose, Ca. Im smoking right now. Its 45 degrees. Im doing OK. Maybe thats cause Im watching a replay of The Raider Game! Im not just sitting outside,I go out to my patio which is right next to the room I watch TV in, Take a few puffs & go back in for a bit. Usually I time it pretty good & my stogie doesnt go out. Mag

I live in South Shore Boston, am banished to the basement, have portable TV, comfy chair and portible heater. Bad is I inhale alot of the smoke, good is, none, can't what for spring.

To TOMREP, (I think), you say smoke in shop. Could that be problem with fuel, oil, solvents, etc???

I smoke half as much in the winter but it isn't just the cold weather. For me it's the darkness. I get off work at 5:00 and by the time I get home it's dark and there's really nothing to do or even watch outside. I do have my cigar room upstairs where I smoke when I'm watching football but I try not to smoke indoors too much. Even with the air purifiers the smell still spreads to the upstairs rooms a little.

I built a small (11 x 13) shed in the back yard over the summer but lately I've run out of projects. The shed is my outside getaway when it's cold, dark, or wet. It's complete with electricity, cable tv, and a propane heater. And there's a fairly well stocked bar.

Penzt8 ... I'd love to learn more about the shed thing ... I've been considering something very much along those lines myself and by strange coincidence, had measured the spot in my yard it would best be put and learned I could build up to about a 10x14 ...

NH hasn't seen weather above 30 degrees in 3 weeks. Its 3-10 deg. in the morning. It's tough smoking any greater than a Robusto without heat. I do have a patio heater that works great above 40 deg. in a area of about 10 feet. It's all you can do during these times is dream of Key West.
