I was never on the wrestling team but I did help some of my friends train. I am now into grappling (Jiu Jitsu) and help some other friends train for UFC type fights. Although I can’t say that grapplers ALWAYS win, I can say that grapplers are always dangerous. I agree with your first post, the one on one thing is pretty cool, I mostly enjoy the technical aspect of the sport, so much to learn.

During HS, I lettered in baseball and football (and felt a twinge in my right knee just reading Turnberry's response) ... I might've gotten one in wrestling as well, but (and my apologies to those of you whom I've bored with this story before) during the summer between my sophormore and junior years, I got kicked off the wrestling team ... that's right, school wasn't even in session and I got the boot ... there were half a dozen of us who got caught by the wrestling coach while livin' large on beer and cigars* in a local park ... big time violation of his rules and the 2 or 3 (or 4) of us who had been on the wrestling team found ourselves on the outside lookin' in ...

* My first cigar experience, BTW

I played baseball and football in high school and played collegiate baseball. Never could get into wrestling as a sport, being from the South, it was not something available to us in high shool at that time.

Baseball since i was 5...baseball and football in high-school...then 10 more years of baseball across the border in Mexcico...never any injuries ('cept for the snap-krackle-pop shoulder)...

Then paintball for a couple of months...broke my leg and tore up some ligament in my ankle...two surgeries and three pins later...figured i should have stuck to baseball...

Wrestle from 1st grade thru 7th. Taught me a lot that I never forgot. Never lost a fight. If you notice, the Ultimate Fighting Champions are generally Grapplers (Jujitsu). Should've stayed with it. Too many extra-curriculars, needed a break

Baseball 2nd grade-9th

Football (tackle) 6th grade thru 12th (broke my nose and seperated my shoulder my senior year)

Basketball 6th grade thru 9th (destroyed my back snow skiing had to retire right after I busted ass to make the Freshman team)

Track 6th thru 12th hurdles, relays, discus, sprints

Diving-Freshman in college (inspired by Rodney Dangerfield "Back to School")

I played Basketball, Baseball and Football. All my younger years. Never had any major injuries. Tore ligamints in both my ankles, they hurt sometimes. Nothing I cant stand, also my one knee hurts sometimes. But only because I still try to play basketball pretty much, I need exercise. I do still play softball when I can. I usally play football once a year, all my body can take. I stick to golf now. But that hurts my back, could be because of the tire that it holds up..

Played that Roundball back in the day. Before I got old and fat. Even got scouted by UConn. Glory Days!
