Yep two days for an allergic reaction to what? I/we still don't know.I have never been allergic to anything in my entire life.

This was Wed night, Mary and I ate leftover Carne Asada from the night before,I made about 6 lbs,it was very good and the boys didn't eat so we had it again from tuesday.I drank vodka/tonics as I had done the previous three nights from the same bottles.I defrosted some chicken parts in the sink for thursdays grill and washed my hands repeatedly. Then I grilled some Italian sausages for lunch on thursday.

Ate Carne about 8:00 and napped on the couch until about 10:00PM when I woke up I noticed my touque was a bit numb on one side(thought I'd bit my tonque in my sleep).Grilled the sausages while trying to kick the kid off the computer, after wich I consumed one of the sausages from albertsons and I've ate them on many ocassions before.

About 2:30 Am my tougue was all of a sudden about 3 times it's normal size,no breathing problems or anything but I looked like a **** bullfrog...LOL

Called the Kaiser operator and she told me to get straight to the nearest Kaiser associated Hospital and If I didn't have a ride to call 911 and go to the nearest Hospital.Well Mary took me to a Kaiser emergency room and they took care of me,then stuck me in intensive care for two fuggin days.I was fine yesterday morning but they insisted on keeping me another night.

Note:while in the emergency room they asked Mary to get my keys, any cash I had on hand and my wallet.I gave her the keys and the cash but refused to give her my wallet(they told her I wouldn't need these things in the hospital anyway and thats what she told me...LOL).After she left I put it all together, they didn't want me to have anyway to escape after I felt better.

All in all they took great care of me but I still think I could have went home last night instead of this morning. They were even talking of putting me in general care for another day.I'm like christ I'm fine Ive been fine since my tongue finally fit back into my mouth after about 6 or 7 hours...LOL

Still don't know what the hell I'm allergic to but I'll have to have all these test done now to find out.Christ I didn't eat or drink or smoke anything I haven't for my whole life.I'm thinking insect bite or something, hell I don't know but I BBQ'd the chicken tonight and switched to Gin just in case...LOL

That's some pretty serious stuff. I once took care of first responder service offshore and twice in 18 months I evac'd 2 different guys that had reactions to seafood like that. All I had to treat them was antihistamines and they were oral dosages so they were screwed since they couldn't swallow.
What ever it was could possibly give you trouble for the rest of your life. Be cautious bro.
Glad you pulled thru.

Geez! Whatever you did, don't do it again. Glad you're O.K.

Hey, where are you from? I know a Jim Johnson. I know it's probably a fairly common name but you never know. If you believe Blazing Saddles, everyone in an entire town could be named Johnson.

sketcha, that is kinda funny as I know it's a common name as much as you do.There are at six or so James Johnsons alone in the Lake Forest,Ca 92630 Area Code, well at least I thought it was funny,or I least I was greatful that MR Mean could never really find me....LOL

Bwhahahahaha!Ed knows I kid! Bwhahahahaha! Ed I was truly surprised as well.I'm guessing it's an insect bite, although a food allergy is nothing to take lightly, thats what I was trying to point out!

If your tougue swells up to the point you feel uncomfortable, get your ass to the Emergency Room!I originally left out that this has happened twice before in the last 2 yrs, but not at totally lesser degree's.I still don't know why? I may never know why and I have been lucky I guess in the the past.(I'm still guessing some sort of insect bite?)only because I've ate these foods forever.

Glad to see you're better JJ. I had a (not so severe) allergic reaction. Kaiser Nurse said if they couldn't pinpoint it and I am still curious, do everything I did the previous 24 hours the same way again. Except, this time have a bottle of children's benedryl (liquid) nearby. Toss it down and head for the emergency room if it happens again.

I wouldn't recommend it and I never took her up on it. But, if curiosity gets the better of you.....LOL

Woe...Jim, that sucks! I'm so glad that you are back to your usual abnormal self again! LOL!

You need to get a R.A.S.T. - it's a panel that is done on your arm or back. I had it done on my back...144 different pricks at once - LOL!

Just about every single one of 'em flared up on me too...feels like I guess acid burning if you are allergic to the injection. Not a fun test at all, but you will find out what you are definitely allergic to.

And don't forget anybody at any age can spontaneously get an allergic reaction to previously OK stuff and vice versa...they usually say that you've outgrown the allergy.

Take care my man!

I dated a girl in college that was in the medical field. I've always been fascinated by medicine and used to read some of her medical journal/magazines. I read an article once that a person only has so much of a resistance to some substances and that it can wear out over time. For example, while you may not be allergic to bee stings now, you may only be resistant for up to 100 stings. You could potentially turn allergic on sting #101. Dont know how true this is but I thought it was interesting.

So maybe you are now allergic to all cigars except for Bad Frogs!!!!

JJ glad to hear you're doing better. My son who's 24 years old just recently developed an allergy to shell fish. He's eaten this stuff his whole life. It started just a couple months ago. He was out with some friends and ate crab legs at a restaurant. He came home and his face and chest were covered in a rash. He wasn't sure what caused it. A couple weeks later my wife made shrimp and he ate just one to see if would have any effect. Within a couple minutes his neck and arms were bright red. Amazing how stuff like that happens.
