Well, I'm back from my little vaca. It was short, but very sweet. Here's our houseboat in our cove. It was way up a finger of the lake and we had consistently smooth water all day every day!

We had 3 or 4 poles going out the back of the house boat most of the time. We caught a couple of 6 inchers, woohoo. The water is so warm this time of year. Great for waterskiing etc., but the fish are just too deep.

You gotta downrig troll 20-50 ft from the bottom to catch anything on Shasta in July.

I think it may have been full at the beginning of the season, something that I have never seen. It's dropping fast though. We estimated about a foot a day. We had to reposition each day to keep from getting stuck permanently.

Ok...I live close to the coast and know nothing about lakes. Does it dry up?

Not entirely, but I believe it's an ag lake so by late fall it is usually very low.

that lake is also part of the southern water re-alocation. So, as southern cali needs water, part of it is taken from Shasta.

I'm on the Central Coast of Califonia myself, but we still have lakes within easy driving distance. You mean you guys don't?

There's lakes around but nothing big enough for gas powered engines. You'd have to be on the river for that.
