I can't say for sure but the Cuba label is the wrong color. It should be a darker green,JMO. X

I second that for a couple of reasons:

Label as X Said
Cello - Never Ever - Except Machine Made Havana's.
Size - does not match any standard that I am aware of.

Just my 2 Cents!

The Bottom Line: Fake or not as long as it tastes good to you then you have a good cigar!

Regards,

B

Also ... I blew up your picture to get a better look at the band, and I noticed something that was missing, or, it could be that I lost it in the enlargement.

Granted, the more I enlarged it, the more muddled it became, but the fleur-de-lis looks like it is missing the two little points that are supposed to be there on each side of the inside curve (check real close, to see if they are there) ... and the fleur lacks sharpness.

Slim,

Thanks for the help. I can't seem to get any photos to load from the CA couterfeit page. Is it just me or is CA going down the tubes.

Thanks,

Steve

Fake.
Never cello except machine made

On the A box, the box closes and has a monte clasp.
Also, the seal does not go all the way around the box.

Sorry.

Sorry - but doesn't look good ---type font and size of the Alpha Letter code in Red is wrong and some of the fine detail that exists in the labels (and hard to repro since the lines are too fine for a Xerox copy to hold the resolution) - these fine lines aren't there.

Take a look at the far right of the label (doesn't show in the scan) -- are all of the workers in the field very clear and discernable facial features or are they more like blobs of ink - especially those in the background.

However - that doesn't mean you won't enjoy the smoke ---it doesn't have to come from Habana to be a great smoke --- it's just a shame if you paid the premium for a Habana and got a fake instead. Good Luck anyway.

Well I didn't pay for them but I did trade a co-worker a few cigars for them. The trade was made before I saw the box. The guy was so damn excited about scoring isoms in the DR and really begged me to trade with him. The next day he came to work with the boxes and I had a strong feeling they were fakes. I'm not even going to tell the guy, it would break his heart.

Natsmoker --- print out the info ... and break it to him as nicely as you can. The key here, is to inform and educate ... and not make him feel like an idiot. After all, it wasn't his fault, he just didn't know.

Some peoples pride won't let them believe the truth ... but if he is a friend, you are doing him a big favor ... so he doen't get burned in the future.

don't make him feel bad. he is probably neve going back there, he doesn't need info unless he was going to repeat the trip. tell him it's a great cigar and let it go.

I agree with Slim. Heck if it wasn't for you guys I would never learn and education is what it is all about.
Just think if someone never told you about how to read correctly or pronounce a work correctly then your self esteem would be at a low point when you tried and someone did laugh at you. Tell them in a " I am trying to help you" manner and they will thank you for the help.

What's this 'smoke it first' supposed to mean???

A fake is a fake ... an that one is an obvious fake. What's smoking it going to prove ... even if it's a decent cigar ...

... it's still a fake.

Slim,

I will tell him but I will most likely wait a month or so. As was pointed out, he's not going back to the DR any time soon. The problem is a traded him some nice sticks and I don't want him to think he needs to give them back. In a month he will have smoked them and this won't be an option. A deal is a deal. I may have gotten the short end but, Hey I knew this guy didn't know s--t about cubans going in.

I think limeric was kidding, but you know, after a the gars are smoked and enjoyed (hopefully) There will be no hard feelings.

Thanks for all the help,

Steve

Slim,

"Smoke it first"

Before he tells his buddy. That way, he can at least say it was a decent smoke, thanks. Even if it does taste like grass clipping.
