I am new here, just having found this site, so I apologize if it is a stupid question.
I like a midly sweet cigar. Once that has a nice flavor to it and not an overpowering bitter smell.
Some of the ones I have tried have been Lone Wolf, which I found that I didn't care for. Cohiba, which wasn't too bad, but still not exactly what I was looking for, Solamente, which was alright, just seemed that the taste was a little bitter and Hamiltons House Selection, which was pretty good, but no taste to it unlit.

I was told that the Excalibur cigar was probably pretty good and I should try it. The problem is, that there are not cigar stores near me (100 miles away) and although I have seen some on cigarbid, would it be worth purchasing a sampler pack?

Thanks for any advice.

Any of the Excaliburs would be a step up from what you've been experiencing. The Prensado Oscuro is dark and lucious, I don't have much experience with the naturals. The 1066 line has a Cameroon wrapper and is a little spicier and decent for the money.

Oh, and welcome,

The Excalibur #1 is my favorite golf cigar. It's fairly mild. The only problem is I rairly have time to smoke an 8.5", 52 ring cigar. I haven't tried other sizes.

O-
The Excalibur III is one of my favorites. Good size, great taste, etc. Take the chance and get a sampler.

Hoyo de Monterrey's Excalibur could be right up your alley. You said you want a mild one, so go with the regular Excalibur, the Excalibur 1066 might be a little too full-bodied for you.

Other mild to medium smokes I recommend would be

Baccarat (which has a sweet, super mild taste)
Macanudo (though some might disagree with me, seems Macanudo's quality has been bad lately)
Romeo y Julieta (More of a medium but still awesome, the RyJ Vintage is even milder, but a li'l pricier)
Montecristo (very creamy, almost like smoking a capuccino)

Welcome to the board "O." I think you'll really enjoy it here. Tons of experience and information on this board as well as a friendly bunch of folks.

I have found that I enjoy any Excaliber whether it be the 1066 or regular, in natural or maduro wrapper. Individual tastes will determine whether it is right for you, but I don't believe you can go wrong with a 5-pack to give you an idea of what the cigars are like.

Enjoy!

Welcome aboard!

Any of the Excaliber products are very flavorful and a "best bang for your buck" cigar.

If you prefer a sweeter cigar, try one with a Cameroon wrapper. The Cameroon wrapper is slightly sweet and not overpowering.

Good luck!

Wow!
Thanks everyone.
I really appreciate the input.
Alot of things to think about.
I've been looking at a 3 cigar sampler of Excalibut 1066 for $9.95. And possibly a box of Excalibur 1066 King Arthur for $56.95

The other cigar I was looking at was CAO.
I was told that the CAO Mootrace and Gold honey were really nice.

Looks like I may be able to actually save some money having someone to ask. LOL!
It sucks to spend money for a "fine" cigar, only to find out it is awful.
I am no afficienado, I just like cigars, but am still searching for the one I really like.
I have tried dozens, but can never really recall one that I would call my regular cigar.
One I did like and I am kind of ashamed to admit, are taino Cinnamon, which is a cameroon wrapper.

Being in a "rural" area, I have to hit a cigar store when we go into the city and buy "samples". It is pretty discouraging to the wife to see me spend money on a cigar I won't finish.
Thanks for listening. LOL!

Nat Sherman is mild, and mildly sweet. Onyx Mini Belis are also mildly sweet.

Just sharing some information that I found helpful to me: I invested in a "cigar journal" where I could make notes on each cigar that I tried. Even a place to put the bands. When you get to be my age, and anything beyond this mornings's breakfast is hard to remember, it helped a lot. I didn't spend time and money trying the same cigars over and over again because I couldn't remember what was good and what was not. These journals are availble commercially from a number of sources.

Just some ideas that were helpful to me....

Hey O a # 2 is a great mild to med creamy smoke. I haven't had one in a while but after the first one I tried I had one every few days for months. Worth a try

I think the 5 Vegas is a brand you'd like. Consistant, reliable and a very good beginner(and cigaraholic)brand.

If "flavored" cigars are your thing then go for the CAO, but you might want to experience a black or gold label first.

Stick with the Montecristo #1's too as well as Leon Jimines. Both are well constructed cigars that you won't want to put down.

La Flor Dominicana and Arturo Fuente Double Chateau's would fit the profile you're in right now too.

When you're ready for something...stronger shall we say...remember Bucanero.

arwings,
I'm not exactly a pup. LOL!
I know what you mean about not remembering what was good and what wasn't. I have been putting the bands off to the side of the ones I like, but then couldn't remember if I had tried bad ones, until I bought them again. 😞

cooksta2,
Remeber, I'm a newbie here, so you will need to clarify #2?

By the way, thanks for not hammering about lesser smokes, as some places do.

Maria Mancini Magic Mount (maduro). Good, smooth, reasonable, also Mayorga Madies and everything everyone else here said.

DrMaddVibe,
I tried one Montecristo, not sure which it was, but it was pretty good. It was given to me by a friend and I haven't made it to get any more.
Thanks!
