Angels Trumpet

This beauty was only a seed about 3 months ago. My wife germinated seeds that came off of her grandmothers plant in Ariz. Were in CA.

We could tell last night that it was ready to open up. Its the first one. It WAS open this morning. I decided to take a pic before I left for work.

It was a good thing I did. Its been in the 90's out here. When I came home from work it was completely burned by the sun. The rest of the plant was just fine.

I guess they are pretty delicate. I'll have to enjoy them in the morning till it cools down.... :>)

That's a Datura, common name - Moon Flower, Angels Trumpet ...

Mag ... they only bloom in the evening, and last through the night. The next day, they will wilt ... no matter how hot it is, as each flower lasts only one night.

The good thing, is they produce a lot of flowers and the 6 inch blooms are very fragrant on a warm evening!

It's an annual ... but it will reseed itself (all over the place) ... LOL!

BTW ... the Datura are poisonous plants. The ingestion of any parts of the plant can be toxic. Height 3-4'.
