All summer long, I have been battling the temperatures in my 80 box humidor. I have won the battle because of my daily attendance. I have a scheduled upcoming extended absence from my “Babies” and need some advice.

I am looking for a device that will maintain “Both Humidity and Temperature” with a high degree of accuracy.

I have conducted some research and have only turned up one possible solution. Any and all help would be appreciated.

This is same question I posted yesterday, only you are more to the point. I received several good responses,
I have already moved my humidor to bottom shelf in shaded area of linen closet. If that doesn't do the trick I will consider putting inside a large plastic container and add blue ice daily to control outside temp. If that becomes too much work I am considering buying a humidor which has an elec. fan to circulate air within humidor. Good Luck.

rweyant - Thank you for your response. I agree that I can move it to the Basement but I am looking for a long term solution. Remember I have an 80 box humidor which is 6 feet by 2.5 feet. I would like to see what other people use for the Cabinet humis.

I have the same battle here in Phoenix. A good short term solution is to rent space in a local tobbaconist's humidor. I would look to air conditioning as a long term solution, although the $$ to keep our entire home at 70 degrees is outrageous. (here in AZ anyway)
Have you looked at wine storage cabinets? They are not cheap, but come in numerous sizes and are refrigerated. I've been told the high thermostat setting is around 66-68 degrees.

The ploomidor does not have one of these, it has a thermoelectric cooler which I had to get a controller card for, and a power supply, etc... It was more of a custom job, but there are one piece, plug and play units like the one I listed. above. The rub is, you or someone would have to fit it in your cabinet. That means cutting, positioning, and then sealing well.

That is what I am looking for "Exactly".

Billy, that's the same system I have in the ploomidoor 🙂 Model HMF2

One note, you need to open it up and clean it good every couple of months to help prevent mold. But it does a good job.

note however, the habitat monitor does not have a temperature control system (that I know of) it only controls humidity.

I would rent a lear jet and have them sent under armed guard to a region in america that was somewhat more hospitable in reguards to temps this time of year.

What it claims that it regulates temperatures...Shucks, back to the drawing board...

I know, it says it does, but it has to have a device that actually does the cooling. They claim that their unit controlls temp and humidity, but they only have the plastic container that fills with water, has a fan/wic combo. You could call them and ask about temp control. They were easy to reach and pretty friendly when I spoke to them.

Thanks Robby - I sent em an email and asked them a few questions. I have the fan(s) just want a "Reliable" cooling device. Hopefully this works or I will have to send you all my smokes to watch for me for about 6 weeks. 🙂

perhaps there's someone in your area with a basement? Who keeps their house at say 76? A corner of the basement should be 70ish. You could get some coolers, even cheap ones (styrofoam?) and let um rest for 6 weeks there, no problems.
