Ok, guys. I'm going on a fishin' trip next weekend and I need some suggestions for bringing along my little buddies. I was hoping there would be a good way to make a travel humidor instead of buying one.... any ideas???

Take a tupperware dish with a home made humidifier in it.

What hoagie55 said ... but if the cigars are already humidified properly, you won't need to put any humidification device in it ...

... new Tupperware containers are air-tight, and if you add a 'credo', you risk getting your cigars all 'wrinkled' and hard to smoke with too much moisture!

having been there and done that ...a major problem is too much moisture not the other...I often use a wide-mouth thermos to pack and seal onboard..most have those in house anyway...phenix007

I got a box at WalMart that works great for what you're talking about ... inexpensive, Tupper-style unit that has little clamps on either side of the lid to hold it in place ... I took two cigar boxes apart and used the wood to create a loose 'lining' for the box, added a small humidifier and off I went ... Slim's right in saying that if you're just going for a short time, a humidifier is not really necessary and unless you live in a really hot, dry place like the Arizona desert, you could do well without one ...

If you're going Tupperware, just don't forget to ...."go around the bases" when you seal it. Heard that from my SO a million times!

What Robby said - buy yourself a Cigar Caddy by Otterbox. After a weekend trip a few weeks ago, two all-nighters striper fishing in New England, I concluded that the Caddy was worth it's weight in gold. Between salt spray, fish guts, flopping fish in the boat, spilled beer, the humidity,condensation, and getting bounced around in the boat, your cigars will get wet/banged up if not in a secure environment. The Caddy protected my sticks perfectly. This was the first time I had used it fishing, and I was extremely pleased. I had the 15 count - churchill size. Look at it this way - if you have 15-20 sticks, at an average of $4/stick, that's $80(at least) worth of cigars which could possibly get ruined. Trust me - no matter how careful you are, when fish are brought on the boat or you are moving, they will get wet or damaged. ditto on Robby and supp. I use my otterbox whenever I fish. I have taken it in a canoe and needless to say it went in the river. No harm to the smokes at all.

I have the Sherman 30 count traveldor and I love it,I also have a 4-5 count otter box I got from Slimboli as a bonus on a trade.The 30 can be a bit much on say a weekend but at least I usually don't have to worry too much about leaving behind that pefect cigar for the moment. :0)

Oh a buddy of mine made his out of metal Cheech and Chong lunch box he found online and just trimed the Sherman trays to fit.

The otterbox trays do leave somthing to be desired compared to the Sherman but they are functional, just a bit flimsy for when your diggin' through it.

This is the exact same thing I have.

It holds over 40 (depending on size), and has been great to me.

It comes with a double-blade cutter and two-finger cigar case. Their okay, the case will only hold cigars no bigger than a 48 ring gauge, and the cutters a lil small too...but hey, they were free, so I can't complain.

I've got one of those too ... I like mine and use it but it's not a true travedor ... not the same as having an Otterbox or a Sherman, which I finally broke down and bought ...
