I have found that over time the cigars that I buy in boxes or five packs end up getting traded or gifted and not smoked by me.

I almost always end up smoking cigars traded or gifted to me. Anytime I reach into my dor it isn't to get one that I have bought but one from a wonderful trader (tons of them here, way to many to mention them all) or one that was gifted to me.

I guess these smokes have more meaning than the ones I can purchase at a store or web site. So with that in mind I want to say Thanks to all the wonderful BOTL on this board you guys make each smoke a little more special.

Wow. I never realized that - but it's true! whenever you trade or gift to someone - you always want to know what they think about it and vice versa, so you almost have an obligation to try the ones received from others - but that's a good thing! I love all being exposed to all the great cigars out there and it is certainly more meaningful to enjoy a cigar that was thoughtfully given to you by someone else. And just think - when my boxpass comes back, I'll have a whole box full of special smokes (to share with tonester)! This brotherhood truly is something special...

I totally agree. For me its diversifying my smokes and experiencing as many different sticks as I can.

Between the birthday clubs, the box passes, and the trades I've made I've been able to try and enjoy many smokes that I might never of even thought about.

I have also enjoyed the friendships and comaraderie of the fellow memeber of the boards. If there is a special cigar that you haven't tried, someone always steps up to make that a reality.

This was just proven a few minutes ago. I think yesterday I mentioned I was curious about the Gurkha pre-embargos - then this morning I get an email from a brother, who will remain nameless (cough-chipslave-cough) who says he's sending me one! And this isn't some lone wolf someone's looking to get rid of - that's a serious gesture! I can't remember the last time I saw such a display of generosity. Almost brings a tear to your eye...

I wondered if I was the only one who had this problem.
The other problem I have is......
I keep smoking them. I mean, I get a trade or "care" package from someone, I look them over, then I pick one out of them to smoke "In Honor" of the sender.
Interesting how good some cigars taste when they are smoke in honor of the sender. 🙂
Then, those will be the only cigars I touch for some time.

Don't tell Robby, this sounds like socialism. 😉 I agree though. I'm a total mizer when I buy, but it feels great to give away that prized stick.

My wife likes to tease me about giving my cigars away but I tell her what goes around comes around. Besides, it's part of the fun of it all.
