I was looking thru a post about the box passes and it stated to replace with equal or greater value.
It got me thinking about the trades too.
How do you know what the value is?
I have looked thru several sites for prices and on some cigars, the prices can range from $3-$8 for the same cigar.
How do you know if you are being fair?
In the trades, I can see where it is easier, because you can ask the person you are trading with, if it is acceptable, but what if you want to make up the difference? I always worry that the cigar I am sending as an extra might offend the person.
Any advice?

In a box pass, be reasonable. Most honest takes/puts are fine. Also, it is a good idea to have the person post their takes/puts on the forum before sending the pass on just in case anyone has any objections.

hope this helps.

If you feel good about it, that's all that counts.

Whats been said already and as far as bonus sticks it really should just be something you personally enjoy that you would like somebody to try or something you have heard they've been looking to try.

Zero,

I've done many blind trades where I'll just tell the person I'm trading with that these sticks cost me 'x' amount and to just send whatever they want that is of similar value.

Others identify each stick they are sending. It's a matter of preference.

I tend to identify each stick I'm sending (except for bonus sticks, which are a surprise anyway) but.... I never... repeat never give a whit if someone sends me sticks of lessor value. (mainly because in 7 or 8 trades to date) I've never gotten stiffed. Sometimes I sent a few more bonus sticks than the other guy, but that was my choice. Also, I can never match the bonus offerings slammed on me by Tinman. He's the king of traders as far as I'm concerned.
