i think the congress and the senate feared for their jobs. they ran it through in one day giving the ftc authority to compile the list.

there are some strange exceptions though and i don't know why there should be any.

that's telemarket, pester, and annoy. that's a formidable group.

question. why are their these little hidden loopholes? who are the people that can influence the law to their advantage and why wasn't this information made as public as the fact that the authority to the ftc passed so fast.

i know there are some more little loopholes, but i'm not sure what they are.

if you buy a product, they are allowed to tlemarket you for 18 months.

if you make an inquiry, they are allowed to peste you for 30 or 60 days.

there is something anout medical products that allows them to annoy you for some period of time.

I don't know about you guys, but in the last two weeks I've been getting calls listed as "unavailable" about every 20-40 minutes. For a while, I wasn't getting any. Sometimes FIFTEEN CALLS A DAY!!! If I pick up the phone, no one is ever there. I think I'll just pick up the phone and let loose a scream into it in case a sales rep is there.LOL

The Telemarketers and the two bonehead judges feel it is a violation of their Freedom of Speach to have the Do Not Call List. I feel like it is a case of Invasion of Privacy when they call.

BTW, the Do Not Call List does provide us with a way to sue the telemarketers. All we have to do is get the persons name, company name AND phone number.

BUT THEY BLOCK THEIR PHONE NUMBER SO HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO TRACK THEM!!!!!!!!!!!

I was pestered by telemarketing calls until out last move. I had to get a new number and had it unlisted and I bought Privacy Direct which blocks calls that have ID disabled or “Unavailable.” The caller has to give a brief message identifying them and the reason for the call. When I pickup I can chose to receive the call & allow the number to ring through next time or block it forever. In two years, we had just a few sales calls; most of them hang up when they get the Privacy Direct service and the Privacy Direct number shows up on caller ID.

IMHO, all telemarketers, junk fax senders, spammers and child molesters should be dropped in dry oil wells.

As for the loopholes in the Don Call list or anything else; remember there is really only one political party in a long-term democracy, the $Green$ party. They are not conservative or liberal, but they rule.

I love the Jerry Seinfeld episode where he gets a call from a telemarketer and he says "I'm busy right now. Why dont you give me your home phone number and I'll call you back later and we can talk."

I always want to use that but I never remember it at the time I get the calls.

I hate the telemarketing calls. I found out though that 2 million of these people are going to lose their jobs.

I thought about it, and decided our country doesnt need that right now. I'm willing to be bothered by these people, for my country.

I just tell them to hang on while I go turn the TV down, then I just go back to whatever I was doing. I tried timing them for a while, but I think the snickering tipped them off.
