will serve 9 months in federal prison for selling bongs on the internet. bongs, not dope. i know it is "drug paraphernalia" but so is a well packed pipe, and a spoon and a butane lighter.

what shall we do about rush if he is tried and/or convicted of buying "illegal drugs?"

It is time to pile up free drugs on every street corner that currently has drug dealers operating. Then spend the vast amount of money it costs us in crime and punishment of drug problems on treatment and containment of drug users.

Making drugs free will:

Eliminate crime perpetrated to buy drugs

Eliminate drugs dealer turf war crimes

Cripple drugs cartels by buying drugs from governments that currently under attack, e.g., Columbia.

Institute drug testing for all jobs, recipients of welfare, politicians, everyone.

Identify all drug users and offer treatment. If the refuse or fail treatment a time or two, send them to a drug farm to live out their days getting high and leaving the rest of society alone.

Do the crime, do the time.

Chong was promoting drug use by selling items designed and manufactured for their consumption. Yes, a pipe can be used, as well as rolling papers, but they are also commonly used for tobacco. Heck, many crappy machine made cigars are sold and re-filled with pot. Personally, I don’t think the punishment fits the crime.

As for Rush, he will get the best legal defense money can buy. If the Kennedy clan can get away with murder and rape and Hollywood actors can avoid jail time, he will too.

i agree with you completely.

only in a rational society could it happen.

Not to make enemies, but I think it's time to legalize drugs. Start regulating it and getting it out of the hands of the drug dealers. Get the FDA involved and keep them as controlled as possible. Still impose laws for minors as you would alcohol and cigarettes. But in a world where we can decide to shorten our lives by drinking alcohol, smoking cigars and cigarettes, and God knows what else. Why shouldn't an adult be allowed to choose other substances as well. I'd be curious to see the numbers on how many people actually die from overdose(usage), as compared to how many people die from drug related killings, bad drugs, and other things that might be able to be decreased if they were legal and regulated.

do some research about "hemp", the perfect product.
see if you can find the connection between hemp and the introduction of polyester fabric.

look for the reasons why marijuana was declared an "illegal substance".

the research will not only give you information about "drugs", but you will find the idea of researching, a valuable tool in the present and in the future.

i promise you you will never regret the learninbg process that the internet offers.

you guy's who want to legalize it all need to go live in Denmark or a socialist country like that for awhile...your strung out drug bag Neighbors on either side of you stayed up and partied all night while you were trying to sleep... then you get up in the AM and go to work... work for however long then return home to the same place where your Neighbors don't work... but then 70% of your hard earned pay goes to the Government so they can take care of the housing and everything else for your Neighbors who don't work...
it's jacked up... but hey you want it find a country like that!!!

Hog - I didn't know it was that bad over in Denmark and places like that. All you ever hear circulate is how they don't have the crime problem that we do (probably cause everyone is too strung out to hold up a liquor store) As Rickamaven suggests, I should do more research. I still have a hard time believing marijuana is much worse than alcohol, but I guess I should rethink my stance on thinking we could make all drugs legal. (Although now's a good time to point out I think prostitution should be legal too!)

Rick - you've got me curious as to the connection between polyester and hemp. I've done a little searching, but haven't come up with anything other than other than stores selling selling hemp fabric. At least fill me in on what you were eluding to as the real reason it was banned. Otherwise I'll be up all night searching the internet.

Hog,

That’s not exactly what I said, “Identify all drug users and offer treatment. If the refuse or fail treatment a time or two, send them to a drug farm to live out their days getting high and leaving the rest of society alone.”

Ironically, the neighborhood you described sounds a lot like some we already have right here in the USA, except they fund drugs with prostitution, robbery, burglary and welfare fraud.

Note: Denmark is exactly the opposite of usahog's description.
