I sent it too soon.
One of our friends has a kid who shows horses. She knew my wife was into horses and always gloated about how many blue ribbons her daughter won, how much her horse was worth, how she was going to take the kid to Quarter Horse World. My wife kept quiet because we were showing horses with our kid too but never ran across them.
We finally crossed path's with her at a show. She literally put her horse in a trailer and told us that the horse was injured and couldn't show. My wife took a look at this $50,000 horse and was rather suprised to see some old swayback in the trailer. The lady said she didn't bring the good horse with her. Her daughter, who was embarassed by all this said "Mom...we only have one horse. You need to stop telling stories."
With a little bit of help from us and some friends, they got a better horse, some better show clothes and actuall do pretty well now in the 4H circuit.
It was just a little bit of a sad inferiority complex. But now she can brag a little with honesty.
