You don't know who Che Guevara is?

Ernesto "Che" Guevara was an avid cigar smoker and a "Comandante" of the Cuban Revolution. Born in Argentina under the Peron dictatorship, he became a doctor and a fervent Marxist. He's the guy who influenced a Cuban exile in Mexico named Fidel Castro to consider a socialism as a possibility for the new Cuba in the early 50's.

Che exemplified the true communist and he believed very strongly in the ideal of communism (which differs from how communism is often practiced). After the Revolution, he was Minister of Agriculture, President of the Bank of Cuba, among other jobs...but in his free time, he lead in communism by example by going down everyday for several hours and working manual labor jobs with the common man, such as carrying crates in from the docks. After several years of government work, Guevara went to the Belgian Congo to lead a revolution. This failed, and he then went to Bolivia for another attempted revolution, but was eventually captured and executed by the Bolivian governemnt (with help from the CIA).

Some wonder why Guevara, who seems to have stuck very strongly to true communism (not the kind practiced by the USSR, which swung from being democratic to dictatorally depending on who lead the party at the time), would support Castro's obvious dictatorship and unwillingness to allow free elections. Some historians contend that he eventually saw Fidel wasn't going to step down and hand over power to an elected leader, and that he left Cuba for the Congo and Bolivia because if he stayed, Castro was going to imprison or murder him.
