what a great tasting cigar! has that rich Nicaraguan flavour profile and a great draw. not refined in appearance or burn, but this i can look past that because it is so darn flavourful and smooth. and what a bargain! won a 5er of toros for 13 bucks......i mean, wait, this cigar sucks.......it tastes like turds.......really......avoid bidding on these.......

Been a fan of these for quite some time. I have been smoking far fewer the past few months as I've started to run into a bit of inconsistency.
Omar Ortez are great when you find the darker, oiliest sticks. These will give you a lot of flavor and are very satisfying. I'm tempted to call them med-full, but not at all 'strong'. Little spice, but unique mouthful of rich, almost slightly sweetened chocolatey coffee...I don't know...reminds me a bit of Godiva Coffee for some reason.
Unfortunately, I've also run into some that are much more 'dry' to the touch. The overwhelming taste that comes to my mind when smoking these is water. Now, I like water a lot, but it isn't the taste signature I seek out in cigars. As a very general rule, I've had much better luck with the robusto size than the toros or belis.
So now I always look for Omar Ortez in B&M's so I can put my eyes on them (and yes, sometimes touch them) before I buy them. When they are on, they are tremendous value. When they are off, they won't cause me to toss them, but they aren't very satisfying either.

I lit one up this morning and I'm nearly done as I write this. I found it to be pretty one dimensional with leather being the dominant flavor here. Not a lot of complexity and it changed very little from start to finish. I'm getting just a tiny bit of spice but thats about the extent of it.

It's not a "bad" cigar but it's not one I'll be bidding on again unless the two in my coolerdor mature into something a little more enjoyable.

I like OO's very much but they are inconsistant. I have never bought a box of 50 but even the 5vers I picked up had some good and some not so good. All in all I like them.

THese are one of my favorite goto smokes. Yes they can have a one dimmensional side.

Most Padron Maduros are 1 dimensional , But it's a dimension i can't get enough of !

Mmm...just smoked the first out of a box of 60 last night. Could do a lot worse for cigars that cost me less than two bucks per. Word has it these age nicely, too.

I picked-up a couple of these from my local on the way home from work. About two inches in and so far I'm impressed. It (kind of) reminds me of a JDN Antaño. I'll let the others rest and see how they do. A good cheap smoke.

Never had them before...@ least not the maddies, but what the heck I've done sillier things. They will get a gooooood long nap and then we'll see what's what.

Had one today that a buddy brought over, maduro short torpedo. One dimensional says it all - and not a great dimension. Better than the other larger Omar Ortiz maduros I've tried, if only because it was less unpleasant.

Yeah....it's tough for a cigar to "standout" when being compared to VC's and Bahia's etc. :-"
