Good News: My wife and I are having identical twin boys and as we sit here at this moment they are in fantastic shape.

Very Bad News: There lives are in danger due to sharing the same placenta and amniotic sac. There is up to a 50-62% chance they won't make it.

My wife has to go on bed rest or be hospitalized starting the first week of December. Best case scenario is that they will be taken c-section on Feb. 6, 2 months pre-mature.....I'd give my life for that.

So, we need a little extra help from everybody.

Sonny, I am sorry things are not turning out as you and your bride had hopped. It may sound clicheish, but it is always darkest before the dawn. Things have a way of working themselves out.

Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Now go and be by your wifes side as well as your twins. Remember they can hear inutero, so tell them how much you love them.

When my wife was pregnant with one of my daughters, we were told that we shouldn't get our hopes too high. Based on an early exam, the baby was placenta previa, semi breach with a transverse lateral lie. The umbilical was over the baby's shoulder and around her neck. If my wife were to go into labor, the umbilical would have compressed around the baby's neck. There was the chance that my wife's life could also be in danger if she went into labor and we weren't within quick hospital access. In her seventh month, the high risk ob-gyn, using indelible Magic Marker, drew a cutting diagram on my wife's abdomen, just in case he was not available, if my wife went into sudden labor. That was twenty-five years ago. My daughter went from being a high risk, c-section baby to a summa **** laude college graduate, all conference athlete, now in her third full year as a teacher. Medical science has made rapid strides in 2+ decades. Keep your hopes and spirits high!!
