I dont think they should have fined him. I think he was just unsure if the Saints still sucked, so he had to phone a friend. As I understand, the friend confirmed that, yes, the Saints still suck.

In all seriousness, though, I think they only fined him because that was the lamest touchdown celebration in the history of the NFL.
