WOW. I smoked a small one..probably about 4.5 inches and maybe as small as a 44 ring gauge. If this small 1964 tasts the same as the larger ones...i think i found the best cigar i have smoked to date. It far surpassed my expectations..heck i liked it much better than the opus x! So last night i smoked this cigar waay down until it got so hot i actually dropped the nub becauase it burned my fingers. So today..what did i do...i picked up a 1926. I paid $20 for it. Is that about standard for the cost? It's a pretty big cigar, but i forgot to ask what the official size is.

Ditto. Let me know when you fire it up. I've had a PAN 1926 principe size, but no PAM 26 yet...can't wait..

Had a 64 and 26...never smoked a PAM before...but seeing how nice of a guy I am, I put them both in the Gratitude Pass. I'm just a great guy.

yep yep one of my all time favorites. The #1 PAM 26 is roughly $20 here also. I have a 26 but have refrained from smoking it. I can get the 64s cheaper.

I have said from my 1st day on this Board - I will match the PAM Serie 1964 (especially the Torpedo and the Imperial) against the majority of cigars being made anywhere - including Habana. In fact, I will even go so far as to say that I view the "Normal" Padron X000 line as a worthy contendor against almost all comers.

But the 64 Series - the Dependability of construction, quality in manufacture, premium leaf - these NEVER fail to deliver and I smoke 5 of these per week on the norm.

Having said that - I am not a real fan of the Serie 1926 Padron line - doesn't deliver like the 64s do and they are MORE money....and I would rather have 2 to 3 Habanas for my $20 rather than 1 Serie 1926..

I disagree on the 1926. While you are correct with the 1964 Torp maduro,I had a 1926 #6 Natty that blew my socks off. That was one flavor packed cigar. The other 1926's have been great as well but that's JMO. X

Never had the 26 before, but I agree on the 64. They are better than Opus X and most Habanas IMO. I've smoked at least 20 to date and never had any construction problems. The taste is always wonderful too. The regular Padron line is one of my favorites, too, but sometimes I don't think it gets the recognition (as opposed to AF). Just my 2 cents.

I've never met a Padron I didn't like. I usually have 75 to 125 various Padrons on hand at all times. If I have less than 50 Delicias (my daily smoke) on hand I start to panic, LOL.

The best Padron I ever had was from a paticular box of Padron Anniv. Superior maduro. For some reason this box was the best. Burned with a solid black ash, uncharacteristic for the PAM, and smoked just wonderfully. After smoking one, I went back to the shop and bought the remaining 5 from the box. I was sorry to see the last one go, but it was soooooo good!

Every now and then I'll get lucky and run across a box from the regular line that could pass for Annies. It's all good!

I know I may take some heat for this, especially since it is my first post here, but I just don't see what the big deal is with these cigars. I have heard a lot of hype about the PAM on the internet, and I always wanted to try one. I buy most of my cigars online and the few shops I went into didn't carry them. I finally was able to get one in a trade. I was pretty excited since several people had told me that this was the best cigar they had ever smoked. The cigar had almost two years in the humidor when one Saturday last fall I couldn't take the anticipation any more and decided to just fire the thing up. Honestly, after all the buildup this cigar got, it was a bit of a letdown. Maybe letdown is a bit extreme, but since this is supposed to be "the best cigar ever" I was expecting a little more. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good cigar, but at $15-$20 per stick, I just couldn't see it. I would have no problem paying $5-6$ for them, but I just didn't think it was worth the high price they command. I think the regular Padron line is just as good for less money. There's plenty of cigars out there that I enjoy just as much for a fraction of the price. Oh, well, to each his own I guess.

PAN's and PAM's are one of the best cigars ever made, you can allways count on the Padron's to make this awesome cigars every year, no shortage of quantity nor quality, lots of shops carry them and are not really beeing over priced. I myself love the 64 line I prefer the maddies, but the naturals are excellent. I have never had a bad Padron. About the 26 series, they are also great cigars but the price difference IMO isn't worth it, I much rather smoke 2 64's than 1 26!!!

gvlagos,

Now that you've tried the Principes, time to try the larger sizes. IMHO, there is a significant jump in flavor and richness from the little Principes to the bigger sizes.

I've have a 3 year old Exclusivo (5.5 x 46) that is beging me to smoke it and I've been getting awfully tempted. Almost had it last night. When I do, I will review it here.

As far as price/value I look at it this way:

PANs & PAMs are premium cigars, not the everyday $1 to $3 smoke. 26s are super premiums. So many have mentioned to me that the 1926 isn't worth the additional money over the 1964. Honestly I've yet to try a 1926 but have had many 1964s and I like the one you had and love the larger sizes. I consider premiums cigar should generally cost $8 - 12 and super-premiums cost $13-$25. I can generally afford a premium once a week and a super premium once every few weeks.

Prices I've paid for 64s have been mostly $8-$12 premium depending on size. At that price range, the quality very much merits that price, Especially for the larger size Padron Anniversaries Maduro. All I can say is enjoy them any time you can and thanks for initiating this thread on a great cigar.

R. Harris in Honduras writes: Just bought another box of 64-Torpedos paying $305.00 for the box in Cayman over the holidays.

And although there is always someone who must hold the high price position, is it not fair to ask the following: Is the Padron better than a Prensado Hoyo de Mont at three times the price? Is it better than a Sancho Panza Cornina at four times? Is it twice as good as the CAO Maduro Ann. or Perdomo2? Is 1-box of PAMS better than say 100 assorted sticks of Punch, Onyx, Aroma de Cuba and CAOs won on Cbid? Don't get me wrong, the PAMs are excellent, but in terms of relative value I stop and take pause.

ohboyohboyohboy! I was just moving my cigars to my new sweaterdor, and found a 1964 PAM that one of my wonderful BOTL was gracious enough to send. after reading this, I may have gone gaga over the wrong gars! I've been blessed by having SEVERAL BOTL display amazing generosity! This is truly one of the greatest groups of people I've ever met!

OK so I decided to smoke that 3 yo PAM Exclusivo last night. After 3 puffs it was obvious that I needed to make some coffee. Somthing about Padron Maddies and coffee. My tastebuds really love this combination.

This was a rich well aged cigar and the age was apparent. As I've posted before, after 2-3 years the Padron coffee flavor turns into a coffee and cream overtone. This taste was marvelous. I highly recommend Padron with Coffee, Kahlua or coffee drinks.
