I've been feeding an interest in wine and cigars for a few years via "GASP" retail, as my hobbies expand, (to suit my aging waist), I've found that the budget has not grown as much. 😞
For a couple of years I've been printing off Wine Spectator listings and going to one of the more well stocked stores in the area, this typically allows me to spend less than $10 a bottle and as I'm only just gaining experience I'm happy at that level.

My question to you my brothers is where are you buying your cellar stock? I do have a costco membership which I haven't used yet but a short browse didn't thrill me with the affordability of selection. Any sites I should ABSOLUTELY know about?

Any help or suggestion appreciated, commiseration and pity accepted as well.

I am not a wine drinker but my wife is a huge wine head. If you are looking just for good prices it's hard to beat your local grocery store that has a decent wine selection. She finds wine for $15 and under all the time that she loves. She just buys them when they are on sale. I don't think the markup is as much as cigars so the chance of a great deal is unlikely. As far as info on wine, wine spectator is good! We spent a little time on winebid.com. The wines usually start high and I didn't see the "deals" were that great. Good luck!

Not sure where you are located but I have done pretty well at Smart and Final as well as Trader Joes. I don't drink the stuff myself but my wife likes the red and I have been able to find $4.00 - $15.00 bottles that she likes.

prices on Trader Joes wines are determined in part by transportation costs so here in the Chicago 'burbs it's 3 buck chuck. Still not a bad deal for a table wine that I can chew through. 😉

LOVE the vino.

Although I quickly get accustomed to finer, more expensive wines when given the opportunity, I always get the reality slap when I purchase for my home wine rack.

I like to keep the everyday stuff below $10 and often find great wines locally at 2 fer $15 or 2 fer $12.

I finally had the 2 buck chuck and thought it was OK. The Merlot was the best, stay away from the Cab.

Look for Aussie Shiraz's and you'll likely find a steal somewhere.

Here in Massachusetts, it's tough to get a company to ship wine due to local laws. My siblings and I bought a Wine-of-the-Month membership for my folks last Christmas.
The overall value in terms of dollars per bottle is not spectacular, but the outstanding variety and ability to try wines you otherwise wouldn't was priceless.
By far their most enjoyable gift, and it's one you can share with friends.

I must say, however, that I don't favor drinking wine while smoking a cigar. A fine port, on the other hand, can be stunning.
