One of the weirdest things I've seen since visiting various tobacco shops happened over the Christmas holiday, but I forgot to post about it. I was visiting some family in Alabama when I decided to try the closest tobacco store. As I was perusing the cigars, I came across a glass humidor that was locked. Inside was none other than 2 boxes of ISOM Montes. I thought, this guy must have some b@11z, so I asked if he was selling them. He said even though it was his private stash, he would sell them for 25 apiece. At that, I promptly said goodbye and left. Have any of you ever seen a tobacco store owner so flagrantly disobey the law. I just hope he doesn't get fined, but if he does, he was dumb enough to deserve it.

You said it all when you mentioned Alabama. Not too many Feds hang there. X

I'll make book that they were "replicas." No licensed cigar dealer is going to risk losing his business and being heavily fined by displaying and selling post embargo Habanos. Several shops have been enjoined recently from selling these replicas. They are nothing more than counterfeits.

I know a shop in **** that gets shipments from Spain for his regulars. It's nice to be able to buy ISOM singles. He doesn't display them though. I leave there feeling like I did in high school after copping a lid. lol

Coping a lid may go something like this...

Dude #1 "Dude, can you score?"
Dude #2 "Got one"
Dude #1 "Right on, Quanto denero?"
Dude #2 "20 bones"
Dude #1 "Killer deal. Is it bunk?"
Dude #2 "Its KGB dude, meet me behind the dumpster in like 5"
Dude #1 "Kewl, Late"

You know what they say about the '60s -- if you remember them, then you weren't there!!! LOL

For the record, I've lived in Alabama for almost 13 years and have visited a lot of cigar shops. None that I have ever been in ever displayed ISOMs out in the open. Granted that, after I got to know a few of the owners a bit they were willing to discuss ways and means, but to put place them out for all to see -- I don't think so!

For the record, I'm presently puffing on a "Lowman" Cupido Classic Churchill! Fine, even burn, nice ash, mild mannered and very tasty!!! Don't know what it is lately, but I've been enjoyin' the hell out of these mild Nic cigars!!!

A lid was $15 back then. We could get a case of cheap beer for $4 or a bottle of Boone's Farm or Bali Hai for a buck. Yep, I'm pretty old.

Like Dave said, some age showing here. I grew up in Alabama (Huntsville)and we had to drive to Tenn. to get our Boones Farm, but it took a lid to get there and back. LOL

There was Phineas and Fat Freddie, I can't recall the 3rd Freak brother. I remember the cat was always crapping on Freddie's headphones. "Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope."
How about "Yellow Dog" and "Fritz the Cat?" Remember them?
