I have some tuppidors to store my humidor overload, and would love to get some wood in them. Does anyone:

1. Know where to get some spanish cedar without giving up an arm and a leg, OR

2. Has anyone used the spanish cedar veneer, and if so, does it do the job?

Hey bill,

Haven't used the venier on the inside of the box but have put some 1/16 ? inch thick cedar boards...the boards that come in some boxes.....in my cooler along the sides and it seems to be doing well. no problems . i just used a dab of a good wood glue in each corner and attached it to the side.once this wood glue dried it was waterproof so i don't have to worry about it coming un-stuck from the moister. hope that bit helps

Don't know about the veneer but Wall Lumber is a good source for various thickness of the regular SC.

If you're just looking for a small amount of spanish cedar, you might try breaking up some cigar boxes. CI sells 5 boxes for $12, and you can often beat that price on the Cbid site. You can leave a note requesting non-varnished boxes as well. Just a suggestion for a source for smaller amounts.

got mine from e-bay too. If you just need a bit I have a fair length, maybe 10"x4" by 1/16? I'm not great at spatial relationships so I could be wrong on those dimensions.

Let me know how much you're looking for:

i'd love to get some veneer, but that's gonna have to wait until next month. in the meantime, i've been taking the triangular "tubes" from a box of mayorga and putting those on the bottom of a tuppador/steridor type thing. i also have 4 empty cigar boxes that i use, open, as "trays" in a steridor. i'd LIKE to take veneer and use wood glue to line the plastic containers, though. any suggestions on what would work best -- storing in cigar boxes (limited) or laying down veneer?

Robby,

Thanks, but I need quite a bit. I have one large and three smaller tuppidors. Possibly 20 square feet or so. Please don't ask why I have so many "overflow" cigars from my 3 humidors. I'm not quite sure how it happened.

I probably sound like a broken record because I've posted this several times.........if you're going to saw the Spanish Cedar to shape, regardless of thickness, be sure and wear a respirator. The dust is very toxic and can do a real number on your respiratory system (personal experience speaking).

Ditto arwings comment. Had a similar experience a little over a year ago. Killed my cigar enjoyment for about 6 weeks.
