A few months ago I bought a friend a box of Oliva O's. He had them at 70% humidity. Yesterday he told me that the wrappers came off of every cigar. He uses a digital reader and has a nice box (although not cedar lined). Whats your diagnosis?

Hygrometer not calibrated accurately. Sounds like too much humidity.

Hygrometer not calibrated accurately. Sounds like 'not enough' humidity.

I figured that hunidity was the key versus bad cigars or poorly stored cigars pre-purchase. He has a decent digital hygrometer and to my knowledge no problems with the other cigars. My theory is that his humidity was too high and the cigars expanded to some extent. Then they shrunk at a lower humidity causing the wrapper to peel. Is the general opinion that the problem is most likley due to his cigar environment and not due to a manufacturer or retailer problem?

Shoulda left the cello on.

Or, if he left the cello on, he should have taken it off.
