I want to start by saying I buy from here often but I find Cigarbid.com's practice of posting a churchill in the pic and the auction is in fact for a much smaller/shorter stick. Many times they neglect to post the actual size. Some one at CI needs to get a $59 digital camera from Cyberguys.com and post the actual item they are offering. Think how you'd react if you bid on a DODGE VIPER and the dealer delivered a NEON.

all the info re the cigars are in the info at the bottom including shipping costs. the pix is not an example of the particular size. it's just a matter of getting used to cigar bid. there is never an attempt to deceive or defraud.

http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/lot.cfm?lotID=22504  I'm saying it's done on purpose, however it IS done. I think it happens because of a lack of proof-reading a low priority item, not because they want to cheat anyone on purpose.

Consul is the size and is stated in the item title. I think it might be a little time consuming for CB to take and download every item up for bid. Also below each image is the disclaimer "Image indicative of product. See description for exact detail". I usually don't pay much attention to the pics...just the item title and description. Hope this helps.

You guys are ganging up on deaddog, I tend to agree that sometimes they do not post the size of the cigar that is up for bid, but it is not frequent enough to bitch about and besides the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE of any company I have ever dealt with will take care of your complaints. Charlie

I only ask that they post an reliable photo or give the details of the item. Neither request is out of line, A business needs to use care not to mislead is customers in order not to be lumped in with the many crooks that tend to pop up on the internet. These guys for the most part run a good and usefull site, but when they fail to be above board they can expect it to be noticed. The fact that they offer this BB is a good indication of their desire to be someone that you'd want to do business with, the fact that they don't pay closed attention to details like this means the buyer must use caution. I don't plan on going away over this but I plan to watch my bidding closely.

Bud you're aware of the size every cigarby model and mfg, Must be a gift from GOD. I'm just asking for an more acurate photo & proof reading the ad to insure the size is listed. Given that not every one knows all the brands and sizes it is comforting to know what your bidding on without needing to research the ones missing the size.

Deaddog, you are right that the details are what matter. Most of our time here is spent on the details. There is a million ways we could mess up the details on any given lot, but I think for the most part errors have been relatively few, and we are constantly working on eliminating.

Not that I want to bore anyone to tears with what's involved in building the auctions, BUT here's why the dimensions were missing from that particular lot:

In the past, the ring gauge and lengths were all manually entered in each time. After a few mistakes, we got a bunch of emails...so we automated this part of it to avoid mistakes. The automation has been working great, but the Hoja de Nicaragua Consuls slipped through the cracks because it was categorized in our internal system as a sampler rather than a box, and the automation we used doesn't work on samplers.

As far as the pictures, we have hundreds of brands, and sometimes several pictures for each brand, but it's a monumental task to have images of every single size available and organize and change them for each different size. We're talking thousands of pictures. There is a picture for each series in a brand, for example, AVO has a picture, but Avo XO has a separate picture. To have separate pictures of the Avo sizes #1, #2, #3, #7, #9, etc. is probably not all that helpful.

Let us know when errors or something confusing pops up, we'll always try to make it right immediately.
