I love my Starbucks mogha java and mexican shade grown. and the best cofee i ever had was A costa rican made by Taz Mainia coffe Of Lancaster , Pa. They make it into a liquid concentrate and then dilute it and heat it up and it is the smoothest creamiest most flavorful coffee I ever had even drinkin it black . They call this the costa rican process. All I no is with their coffee and tobacco and beautiful women that is my next vacation spot.

If you enjoyed the liquid concentrate form of coffee, check out your local Burger King. A lot of BKs use the Douwe Egberts coffee in liquid concentrate form. Very tasty and very smooth. IMO, it is the best coffee you could ever get at a fast food joint.

puskarich... I was thinking the same thing. All the local indian casinos around here use the same Douwe Egberts as well and the coffee is always free there. Too bad it really ends up costing me about $100 a cup! LOL

I like the Kona and also the Jamacian Blue Mountain. Both are too expensive for me for everyday consumption...

This may sound crazy, but don't knock it til you try it! Take a pound of your favorite coffee, (I use fresh ground Millstone Breakfast Blend) and a three pound can of brand X (Hill Bros, Maryland Club, Folgers, Generic) Dump out the cheap stuff into a large mixing bowl, and using a 1/4 cup measuring cup, put three scoops of cheap stuff in and one scoop of the good stuff. continue until the can is full. mix the remainder together, and put in the bag the good stuff came in or an old coffee can or canister. When you brew it up, the cheap stuff seems to take on the taste of the stronger top quality brew! you can take 1 lb of premium coffee, and 3 lbs of Hills, and make 4 lbs of great tasting coffee for about $11 vice $20-28 buying all Millstone! Beleive it or not, this was the result of a long hard learned lesson, that I applied in reverse!

Yep,
Russell turned me on to Killer Beans, and I am drinking the best, carribean cutthroat, right now.

Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew)
P.S. When I can't afford the good stuff, I make do with Farmer Brothers Whole Bean French Roast. It is a better than average resturant brand.

Kevins Coffee Roasters in Vernon CT 860-871-7797, no web site, call for an order form or just tell them what you want. They ship anywhere, and they have the best coffee in the US. My favorites are Papua New Guinea, Tanzania Peaberry and Yemeni Mocha Mattan.

They roast on Tuesday night and Thursday night, man do I miss getting a scoop out of the roaster and brewing up a pot. I lived just up the street from them and could smell it from my apartment when they were roasting.

puskarich,I use a Hearthware Gourmet Coffee Roaster but unfortunately they are no longer in production.People use everything from Hot air popcorn poppers to just doing it in your oven.I know some guys that have had good results in a cheeepy toaster oven from Walmart as well.

You can find the one I have here or I've seen them on Ebay as well.

Heathware.com

Try that sweetmarias site or Coffeegeek.com for more info. Also rdaltoncoffee.com for green beans. It's truly about the freshest coffee you will drink.

Living in the Great North West, we have many local roasters. Our local, D&M Coffee, (hi Donna, hi Mark) I went in the other day to get a cup of drip, and they were pouring steaming coffee bins into the hopper. Fesh outta the roaster, cool enough to touch but still steaming. It does not get any better. Period.

Here's a link to my favorite importer:
www.cafebritt.com

I prefer Costa Rican coffee for it's strength to keep you awake to the wee hours of the morning, but to not be harsh or bitter.

Costa Ricans like to brew their coffee dark. One of my acquaintences there said "Take a teaspoon of the coffee...if you can see the bottom of the teaspoon it's not strong enough."

You will find a lot of people there order "Cafe con leche" which translates to your server to be 1/2 coffee and 1/2 milk or cream. I like to add my own if needed, thank you.
