Anyone get a Verona Deluxe Humidor, like this one?

http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/lot.cfm?lotID=173451

My girl won me won as a gift, for $511. Should arrive next week, and just wondering what to expect. Any advice on humidification?

TIA, Paul

I have one and love it. Make sure you open it and inspect it before you sign for it, though.

I use an Oasis Plus and supplement it with three more large passive humidifiers spread around the unit.

I have no problem keeping it at 70% even here in dry Colorado.

Yes, it is the more expensive one.

Sure, I will try to take some pictures and will let you know.

One pound of climmax humidification crystals should do the trick to keep it humidified. One pound keeps 5 square feet at 65% or 70%, depending on which one you buy. If museum curators trust it to protect priceless works of art , I am sure we can trust it to protect our favorite cigars. 🙂

Seth:

I have the Verona & The Tower of Power. I live about 1/2 hour from CI so Trish let me pick them up to save the $185.00 freight each.

Email me at riversidejohnny at yahoo dot com for any further info you want.

I have the Verona and really enjoy it. Two things: You'll probably find there is a 7-10 degree difference in RH from bottom to top, and you'll find a very weak seal with the door. I have the Oasis II in the bottom and the 65 degree beads in the top, which seems to work fine. I went to Home Depot and got some magnetic cabinet latches and put one at the top of the door and at the bottom. Now I get a solid "click" when I close the door and it seems to seal as well as if I had locked it (prior to the magnetic catches, the only way I could maintain RH was to lock the door each time I went into the humidor). Just my thoughts/experiences.......yours may be different.......enjoy..........

Very cool Arwings. . . . I have an Oasis II on the way. . . are you using 2 hygros? Cabinet arrived today, and looks good. . . . the door seems to close tight, but I don't know how good the seal is. . . . I'll monitor with hygro's after the Oasis II arrives. . . thx

Seth, I sent you a pic via email. I also posted a smaller one on the picture posting group. Hopefully they will allow it.

Another word............there is a heck of a lot of Spanish Cedar in a cabinet that large. It takes some patience to season, i.e., allow the moisture to permeate that kind of square footage before it will be ready for 'gars.

Arwings is right. It takes a long time to get a humidor of that size stablized. I have three large passive humidifiers on top and the cigar oasis plus on the bottom.

I can hear the cigar oasis running during the days off and on doing its part.

I might have an older model Oasis up for grabs shortly if anyone wants to run two in their tower humi. I do have to warn you though that it may be a month or more before I'm ready to give it up.
