What is all the fascination with Bucanero Cigars? I have read a few posts and reviews on them. Are they worth the hype and reviews? What would other brand would you compare them to? AF? Padron? Ashton? I even called others to see if they are stocked, but I am being told there isnt much demand, and they are a mild cigar? I thought they are full bodied...

so I am askin' those that have had the pleasure of smokin a buc? how would you describe em? and are they worth the money?

thanx

Bucs don't compare much to anything else. Mild? Uh,no. I've seen the Crew and the Z described as mild. But I don't think that's precisely right. They are all complex and flavorful! Probably the best Nic. cigars out there IMO.

do a search for their different lines. They have mild-medium stuff like the crew, medium like Z/Don Douglas, medium - full like classico, peg leg, full bodied like the salsa and the full sail. These are some of the most consistant and high quality cigars you'll find - especially for the money. find a retailer, buy from cbid/ci or trade - then you'll know.

Aaaaarrrrggghhhh!

I have some full sails, salsa, Z, classico maduro, and peg legs. So yeah, I guess you'd say I enjoy them. If you haven't tried them you definitely should. If you like um bold and spicy, the full sail or salsa. The Z IMO is a bit milder but still flavorful, I'd say the classico maddie is another step down, but STILL an outstanding smoke and one of my personal favorites.

Decent smoke, not a dog rocket. Id smoke one if it was given to me, or I had no other choice.

Worth the Kings Ransom they ask for them....No.

cugi55 --- Bucanero Cigars is not an up-and-coming cigar company ... they've been around for almost a decade now ... the original factory was in Cost Rica, and now it is in Nicaragua.

They do not have so called 'sales reps' ... but Ambassador's (like myself, and many others here) who promote Bucanero cigars to their local tabocconists. That is the only way most shops hear about Bucanero cigars. They mostly cater to the small 'mom and pop' shops ...

They are a small factory, and therefore have a very limited production (compared to the larger ones), but at a very high quality. They age their tobacco for 3 to 5 years before it is rolled into cigars.

I would compare them to Padron ...

I honestly treasure the friendship that I have with Robert Spoden (President), and really like the mans outlook on life ... he's just one of those really good people ... that we are fortunate enough to be blessed with on this earth.

Robert definitely seems like a decent fellow. And their cigars are excellent.

BUC BIGGOT?

Thanks Robby, I resemble that remark. But I prefer the "Buc Basher" moniker instead.

Smoked any good Brazilias lately?

cugi...Remember those arent boxes of 25's those Bucs come in so they are more like 3 1/2 times as much as yer MMM's. They arent bad smokes...IMHO they (Bucanero) are just a little to proud of their "ordinary" cigars

And I should know, I smoked a Bucanero once.

I am a HUGE Buc fan, and I own multiple boxes of every line.

What you dudes failed to mention was the Bucanero Texas Star, the rarest of the bunch, and a top-notch, super-premium IMO.

The Bucanero Don Douglas, the newest of the Bucaneros, is also an amazing cigar. It has "breakfast cigar" qualities, but is chalk-full of flavor, and just enough spice to rival some ISOM.

All in all, just about every brand of cigars is going to have it's strong points and negatives with different people. The Bucanero is not the "end-all" brand of cigars, but every cigar they make has a special "Ma & Pa" type feel to it, and IMO the flavor never dissapoints.

Meeee maties love theee blasted Peg Leg, arrrrrrggggghhhhhhh! BeatDragon tried a Buc once, and then he walked meeee plank. Arrrrggggghhhh!!!
