I finally had to break down and do it. I went and got myself a cooler to make into a humi.

With my recent purchases and today's suprise of 3 5-packs from my wife...I just plain ran out of space!

I have read in several different forums that if you are without Spanish Cedar to line the cooler, you should use old cigar boxes. Anyone have any input on this for me?

Looks fine to me. IMO the cigar boxes you have there are enough cedar.

Looks already full??? We warned you, you should of bought a larger cooler, heheheeee. Ok, now you can buy a second one and have one in each room.

you may not know this, but the cover over the wet oaisis, looks cool, but is not necessary. the reason holes are made is to expose the oaisis and pg and water mix to the cooler chest. without the top, more is exposed.

i use deeper tuppers (sounds like something poetic or obscene), but i don't overfill the tuppers. just enough to keep the oaisis moist.

Well, I know that the tupperware container lid isn't really necessary in it's current location. But when I made the holes in the lid, my plan was to attach the container to the lid of the cooler. This way the lid would allow the oasis to work without falling out. The only problem with the tupperware is a small ridge that goes all the way around the bottom. So until I take the time to remove that rim, I have to keep it where it is.

As for it being full, that is a visual un-truth. I know that a full humidor is a happy humidor, so I have used two empty boxes on the bottom, and the other boxes are only filled with one row of cigars each. I know that humidors will regulate humidity better if they have less open air space. So I have only about 75 to 100 actual sticks in there now, but it is holding nicely at 68%. Yippee!!!

also make sure to keep an eye out for the RH
on the bottom of a deep cooler like yours.. I
have found it can be much higher.. rotate your
stash from top to bottom.. JMO

Not yet. I bought the Egg just because I thought it was soo odd. I have a thing for odd cigars. I really like the LFD DL Chisel, Trilogy, and others that are a little on the "different side". I haven't smoked it yet, nor have I spoken to anyone that has smoked one. So I don't know what to expect.
