I haven't been out here much the last 2 days but I will say this with respect to the death of President Reagan. At least he(Reagan) had a charming sense of humor.

Funny stuff. By the reaction I'd say you hit a nerve. Oh no wait, WE'RE the ones that aren't allowed to comment against the left, but they're allowed to CONTINUALLY attack our side. I almost forgot.

seriously, though, i was at the doc's office and watched cable news for the first time in about a year -- they had CNN on. for 2 hours i sat and watched this in jaw-dropping disbelief. i saw stories that i'd stayed current on through other outlets (from NPR to online indy media) -- i SAW places where it would have been EASY to make a USA-positive comment. not a one, though.

i was pretty appalled, and i truly used to think CNN was about THE most unbiased news source out there.

Remember CW.. I voted for Reagan...and was active in the Republican party until the Bushes got involved. I attended 3 levels of Republican caucuses in 84 and 88. Reagan is the only President I had the honor of meeting in person. This happened while he was California governor. I believe in being active in support of my beliefs and that is why I'm just as active on the Democratic side. The Republicans went through the neo-con transformation with the Bushes. especially W. Now its a different party that I cannot support.

Reagan came along in a different time and a different era.

In general I tend to throw my political support behind those that emphasize what they are for with plans to bring them to pass (where I agree with the efforts) over politician that devote their efforts on why the other guy is bad and what they are against. That's what attracted me to Reagan then and that's what attracts me to Kerry now.

Robby you're entitled to think that but what the heck do you know anyway. I've been very consistent in my posts discussing my former Republican affiliations.

Isn't it true that the Republican Party has changed a lot since the neo-cons exerted their influence? They simply don't represent me anymore and in fact have me quite concerned about their objectives. You are nothing but a cog in their machine, my friend so I understand you a lot better than you understand me.

But the bottom line is that I have no reason to lie to you about this. The reality is that GW Bush has gone so far away from traditional Republican values as to render the GOP as a something I have become quite concerned about. That wasn't true in Reagans days before the Bushes assumed power.

Your transformation from a Regan conservative to a Kerry liberal would be tantamount to a sex change. It's not a small change, it's not a big change, it stands in diametric opposition to your self-stated former position. I find it difficult if not impossible to believe someone could do a 180 on their core beliefs...

Therefore, I choose to go with my gut on this one. Your reasons for stating this are your own. I can only assume that you say this to make your support of Kerry look more reasonable after careful contemplation, weighing pros and cons, and look, I voted for Regan, so therefore, Kerry must be the man to go with? I don’t know why you’re saying this, I’m just telling you it doesn’t wash with me…

Going from Reagan to GW we see the republican party transforming from Hawk to Chicken-Hawk.
