Just got news one of my nephews is going to be shipping out to Iraq in the next couple months.
He is an aircraft tech. 19 years old and this kid is working on choppers and jets. Amazing.
From the sounds of it, he will be leaving in August.
I am sending him with a small package of cigars to share when he gets there, plus my wife is a cook, so she will be making him a cookie package to take. ; )

I have to admit, when it is someone close in your family your perspective changes a little.
I don't recall where he will be stationed, only that he will be leaving in August or September and may leave here sooner for the east coast.

send him small cans of treats like, fruit salad, or any canned fruit, the better grades of vegetables, canned chicken and tuna. sort of one shot snacks. send him some plastic forks he can through away and not have to wash, and a small can opener,

in addition of course to the cigars.

We'll have to send him with a couple cases of canned fruit cups, tuna fish and stuff.
He's gonna have to have one duffle bag, just for the goodies. LOL!

Envelopes, writing paper, goodies that DON'T MELT (at least until winter) jerky is a good item to send if he likes that! nuts canned or bagged, books magazines (remove the mailing labels if it's from a subscription! AT/FP countermeasure) and a lot of packages is better than one big one evry three months! It's like a weekly reminder that someone's thinking of you back home!

I have a nephew in Iraq and I am very proud of him to say the least! They love cookies, hard candies, CD's and yes, DVD's!

Our son recently returned from a year in Iraq. Tell your nephew I thank him and his fellow soldiers for keeping the fight in Iraq and out of the US.

My brother in-law spent 14 months in Iraq when it first broke out and I found out over the 4th weekend that my stepbrother in-law is leavig for Faluja next week.

Gifts are always welcome, but keep in mind when you send them stuff if they cant eat it then they have to carry it with them or give it away. Their backpacks are heavy with goverment issues stuff and box after box of goodies can weigh them down.

We sent Nerf Footballs. Some were give to the Iraqi children that loved them.

Baby wipes to clean themselves with are great.

Ziploc bags are good to. They can put stuff in them to keep the sand out.
