someone in washington has outed a cia agent, a felony, but we can't find out who it is. north korea is thinking about the risk factors in starting a nuclear war. wal mart, the chinese outlet store, has destoyed many small towns. gas is over $2.00 a gallon. if you own a business, you can buy a humby or whatever that 6,000 pound tank is, and the government will give you a major tax break. the social security fund will soon go belly up, maybe.

and the congress is spending time worrying about a few hundred gays and lesbians who might want to get married.

Every death tragic but this is really a low casuality rate. More of our citizens have killed eachother in the same time frame and at 900 a year if we prevent a 9/11 every 3 years we're ahead.

About 5% nationwide, 3.5% in my area, so you have to be in the top 95% to get a job. Not all that hard a task

The average person below the proverty line is there for less then 5 years and owns 2 televisons, has running water and electrocity. I think the number of those in poverty that own their own home is about half. 25% have a cell phone. Obesity, not starvation, is the biggest health problem. In a lot of the rest of the world this is wealthy.

Despite the fact that we are spend over twice as much per student, in inflation-adjusted dollars, as we were in the 1960's. Maybe the destruction of the family, and not money, is the problem.

Where in the Constitution is Congress given any power over marrage? Maybe they should stick to the Constitution and stay the hell out of our lives, as much as possible. Most of your other concerns would probably disappear if they would do this. But we all vote for whatever crook promises the most, legal, moral, just or not!

When the morality of the nation drops, folks blame Congress, so why shouldn't they "define" marriage?

When the "gay marriage" issue first started out here in Massachusetts (the gay state), I was all for it. I figured it would lend a sense of "normalcy" to their lives and allow many rights not currently obtained such as hospital visitation, inheritence, etc.

But when an alternative was offered via a Civil Union, the gay community was outraged rather than satisfied. It seems that their goal was not simply to gain the rights they deserve, but rather to Force their way into the general populus.

I don't care what people do in their own homes. Two guys, two girls, heck even 8 guys and a girl and a horse. It doesn't bother me.

But it isn't marriage.

Hey Rick! Where does the Constitution say anything about education? Or what store you can patronize? Or what car you can own? Or your earning potential? The fact is, we've fed this behemoth and asked it be pervasive. YOU ask the gov't to meddle in many areas outside of it's mandate. It shouldn't surprise you when it does.

what sucks is that gays and lesbians have kids, too. for all the talk of family values, THOSE families are not valued. civil unions don't provide MANY of the rights that marriage do, btw, and they do nothing to protect the kids of G/L parents.

personally, marriage should be the realm of religious institutions, and the government need not meddle in it whatsoever except to count the number of checked boxes by ___ MARRIED on their census reports.

it is not for the government to dictate what religions do and don't do.

we seem to not like that very much when the taliban does it. we don't need to taliban-ize our own country by forcing religion and government to be one and the same!
