I want to start out by saying this isn't a troll attempt in the least. I don't understand this and was hoping that some Kerry followers can explain it to me.

So I'm watching TV last night and seeing various commercials for Bush and Kerry. One of Kerry's points was that he is very against jobs going overseas or out of the Country. He wants to keep jobs here for Americans. Makes perfect sense to me.

Then in another commercial he is saying how he is for seniors and that he wants to allow them to purchase drugs from Canada (which would be cheaper then buying them from US companies). Again this makes sense to me.

Then I started to think. How can you say in one commercial you want to keep jobs in the US and in another say you want people to not buy from the US. OK granted he didn't say "don't buy US drugs buy Canadian drugs". But by buying Canadian drugs aren't you supporting Canadian workers and not US workers. I thought Kerry was all about the US worker.

So if someone can answer this for me I'd appreciate it. I don't want to hear why we need to keep jobs in the US or why we should be allowed to buy what we want from who we want. I want to know why John Kerry says in one breath support US jobs and in another say spend your money elsewhere to support non US jobs.

Most people have bad short term memory. You are obviously not one of them. YOU saw the contridiction in his commercials.

The other probablity is that Kerry is trying to be everything to everyone. Appeal to every group, sect, state, ideal, and beliefs.

Not claiming to be an expert but I would think that a good part of the drugs sold in Canada are made here in the US. Economies of scale would almost dictate that.

This doesn't answer your question directly but might be a factor.

RE drugs bought in canada. AVB is mostly correct. most of the drugs are manufactured by american companies that have plants everywhere.

what cost me $28.00 for a one month supply of one of the drugs toby uses, costs $30.00 for a three month supply from canada. same drug, same mfg.

if the drug companies were required to sell the drug in the usa for the same price they do in canada, i would buy it here.

but the government doesn't want us to do that and are attempting by law to prevent that instead of demanding the drug companies be competative here.

i understand freedom of companies to charge what they want, but why does the government interfer with my right to chose my price. it's simple. i am not a big contributer to the party.

OK I'll buy that thanks for the clarification guys. Still not planning on voiting for Kerry, but it helps to understand things for fully.

Rick's post has given me another question that perhaps you gents can help me with.

If US companies are selling the identical drugs here as in Canada why is the price so different? Does Canada's government put price restrictions on the drugs whereas US government doesn't? Or is it something else?

EI, I can answer this one for Rick... Yes Both Parties are Guilty as Sin... as I have posted in many posts on here.. the question.. what is the LARGEST money maker in this economy?? and with this question raises another one.. who benifits the most from this money exchange?? Now I don't know if it goes straight up to the Administration Level as in the Pres. but I do know it is across the house and senate floor in terms of lobiests, private shares,big business etc... Sad but true...

Russ is right, this is a partisan problem, and will continue to be one, despite what JfK has to say in his commercials regarding the issue! The President has no say over this matter and it would have to pass through Congress to get approved anyway! I do agree with Rick about the fact that we can save on some drugs buying them in Canada, but not on all of them!

I don't know how any of you can seriously consider voting for any candidate from either of the two major parties anymore. All they're really interested in is keeping their jobs. I usually vote Libertarian, but I can't even bring myself to do that this year. Our borders need to be closed, and everybody who's here illegally needs to be sent home. None of those three parties is even going to consider doing anything like that.

Not so much a JFK or GW issue as it is a blanket partisan issue. Drug companies have contributed millions in contributions to certain law makers to make sure they can continue to price gouge the public. However, recent developments (drugs from Canada) have thrown a monkey wrench in their greedy money making machine. Ironically, they can't control where Americans buy their products from without the help of our law makers.......they can make us buy drugs from their very rich buddies at the astronomical prices. Sure, they'll make money from Americans purchasing their products through Canadian outlets, but not near as much.

Canada's the 51'st state...just no-one has told them yet. I worry more about our money going OVERSEA more so than going over borders.
