I have some cigars that I would like to make into vanilla flavored cigars for my wife. I have seen this done with certain liquors but never vanilla. Anyone have any ideas?....thanks, Bill

I've seen a device called a cigar "Marinator". You put the cigar(s) into it along with your favorite liquor, etc, and pump out the air to create a vacuum. It is also claimed to be used to "re-hydrate" dry sticks. Don't know if it works or even where you get it. I saw it about 3 years ago in a newsletter from the International Cigar Club.

Get an acyrlic or glass humidor and fill a dry humidifier with Vanilla Extract or a Vanilla-flavored liquor. Let the aroma take over the sticks for 2-4 weeks. The reason for the usage of an acrylic or glass one is it's ability to airtight and can be cleaned of the scent when you are done. Be sure to take the cedar pad out of the bottom before you add any scented items though. It'll ruin the cedar unless you wish to make that your flavorizing humidor.

In a small, wide-mouthed jar, about 1½" high and 1½" in diameter, fill about one third with propylene glyocol, one third with pure vanilla extract, and one third with distilled water, leaving enough room to prevent spillage. Place the jar and cigars in an arylic or Tupperware container. Carefully seal with electrician's tape. Handling carefully, put in safe place for about a month.

A old fashioned pharmacy will have propylene glycol. It is contained in the humidifying solution used in some humidors. It is much less expensive when purchased at a pharmacy. Should be $1 an ounce or less.
