You are assuming things that I don't know. It is a simple thing to compare the website to the official record which, to my knowledge, hasn't been done. If it has I missed it or it wasn't brought to my attention.

I haven't read Kerry's book either so I can't say. I do agree with the above in the same way that if Bush was found to be AWOL he should pay the price too. The law has to apply to everyone.

The problem is one of numbers and consistency. While some of the Swift Boat Vets have changed their tune in the last five years, the vast majority have either been consistent in their stance for many years or have been silent because they simply were never asked. Last count there were over 250 SBV's who are unified in their opinion as to Kerry's fitness to serve.

Now you have a former Democratic Lt. Governor from Texas who has maintained from day 1 over the last 30 or so years that there was no undue influence exerted or requested of him by the Bush's to gain deferment for George W. and now, he changes his mind after being consistent for all those years?? What's up with that?? Could it be he works for the Kerry campaign as a major fund raiser?? The simple answer is Yes!! The non-simple answer is that Ben Barnes has stated in sworn deposition that he did not have any undue influence in requesting deferments at all. He has stated at other times (too numerous to account) that he did not receive any personal request from the Bush's.

In the end, you get:
Swift Boat Vets - consistent (granted for the most part) in their renouncement of Kerry over the last thirty or so years... and

Ben Barnes - old story, new story... gotta help Kerry from a sinking Swift Boat.

In conclusion, how can you possibly characterize the voices of 250 decorated veterans as total and complete lies?? Makes no sense unless W is into mass hypnosis or something... and,

how can you possibly charaterize Ben Barnes self and party serving statements as anything but a lie?? Or should I say, "which lie?" then or now.

Bush Campaign = consistent facts or lies (depending on veiwpoint_
Kerry Campaign = quagmire of inconsistent fact or lies (depending on your viewpoint).

The only Swift boaters that count are the 3 boats that were normally with him, the people on his boat, and his CO. The rest may have an opinion (the same as we do) but they have no proof or grounds for it. Some of these people didn't even serve in the same time period.

Units can be tight in combat but to be known by sight and name, especially as a junior officer, by 200+ people is ludicrous. As always, JMHO.
